Will not stay running without enricher on

The carburetors need to be cleaned most likely clogged jets and passage ways.the low speed jet is what you want to pay close attention to make sure the are clean.
If you are going to do it yourself pay close attention do not mix up the carburetor parts always lay out the parts from each carb in the from left to right 1234 separation.
I suggest you get the service manual fir this bike before you attempt doing the work yourself.

1996 chevy lumina battery or alternator?

If you think its the battery, have a load test done to it, any repair shop can do that they can also chk. the alternator. If its the alt. he can do it but it would be best to have a little supervision because of the electrical connections. But first make sure the battery cables are clean and tight, Its possible thats all it is, unhook cables in this order neg. first than pos. mix some baking soda and water and clean the mating surface of each cable and battery surface but be carefull its highly carrosive or you can clean them with a wire brush, when clean reattach in this order pos. first than neg. If you need more help just ask. I got kids too.

Mixer does not function at "stir" and lower speeds Does OK at mid and high speeds

Remove the brushes. Two black screws, one on each side. Pay close attention to orientation. MUST INSERT THE SAME EXACT WAY! Use electrical contact cleaner. I said electrical contact cleaner, put the WD40 back in the drawer!!! Using electrical contact cleaner, clean the contacts. Now clean them again, now repeat two or three more times. Spray SOME, meaning a little, into each hole. Reassemble and try it out. If this does not fix the problem refer to the section on removing the cover to access the motor and gears. disassemble clean the motor's brush surface and the contacts. if you don't know what I'm talking about then stop and call a pro.
This is a very common reaccuring problem with these things. Especially when meat grinding or cookie doughing with it. If you move to replace, get a stronger model, like the 500 or the 600. No, I do not sit around repairing mixers all day. I just happen to know a lot about the ones my wife has destroyed. Some two or even three times. after a while it pays to go get the right equipement.

I recentlty bought a Francis X1 (2000 model). I

There are two different handles made for this unit (I own an X1 and have both). Both of these handles have baskets.

First - The pod handle has a basket area that is very shallow, about 1/3 of an inch deep and the basket has very small holes.

Second - The handle for loose grounds came with two baskets, one for a single dose, and one for a double dose. Both removable baskets have the very small holes for the espresso to drip through.

You must have a basket in the handle in order to use the machine. If you try to make espresso without a basket, you'll just make a mess. Besides, the machine will never be able build enough pressure to extract espresso from the grounds.

Search the net (ebay?) for francis francis x1 handle.

Good luck

I have a Francis X1 Trio. Has anyone ever tried to use ground coffee and can it work. I hate the pods and would love to try to use regular ground with a tamper, but I'm afraid of ruining the machine.

You need a ground coffee adapter, these are available from various sites online. Do a web search for X1 ground coffee handle and you'll find one. Make sure it's the right one for your machine (check to see if you have the aluminium or brass boiler version)

Just found this site - It's in the UK and I'm not sure if you are but they will probably export to you.

Llock light is on but door will not lock to clean oven

The F9 code indicates there is a problem with the door lock.

Try disconnecting the power to the range for 10 seconds and reconnecting. Open the oven door and hold the door switch plunger in while you try these things. Put the control into clean for 5 minutes then cancel clean. You must hold the door switch plunger in for the 5 minutes.

Try canceling the clean cycle without putting the control into clean.

Model X1 overheat

I had the same problem with my Francis Francis X3 overheating. I'm certain the thermostatic controls are similar and I suspected that as the problem. I did not want to pay the roughly $180-$200 to send it in for repair so I opened the X3, located the thermostat and discovered that it was a Prodigy Italiana TR/86 30C-120C adjustable thermostat with the temperature control knob removed and the "P2" wire-lug removed. I could not find one online, but later discovered that Chris' Coffee Service sells it for the Zaffiro here: http://www.chriscoffee.com/products/home/isomacparts/zaffirothermostat.
You should probably open your X1 and confirm the thermostat(s) before ordering. Ironically, I ordered the thermostat, put my old thermostat and machine back together so I could try to use it for a few more days while I waited for the new thermostat to arrive, and all of the jostling apparently freed up the thermostat in my machine so that it started working properly again. The new thermostat arrived and it is an exact match, so I have set it aside for when the orginal one permanently fails, and I know it will. Good Luck!

Francis Francis X1 Electrical Problem

Appliances that cycle power, fridges, freezers, espresso machines...tend to trip GFCI outlets. Not a problem with the machine.
