Question about M&S Systems AirVac AVP1200 Platinum Series Central Vac - 12,000 sq ft Bagged Central System Vacuum

1 Answer

Lately we've been having plumbing problems to where our washing machine floods up our bath tub and toilet. And it happens while we have the washing machine on of course. Another problem is that whenever we are taking a shower our tub starts to clog up and water starts pouring out from the bottom of our toilet. We had a plumber come by to root out our pipes just last week and it was fine for about 3 days. And now the problem is back and driving me crazy. WHAT IS WRONG AND HOW CAN I FIX IT??

Wow, I feel your pain. We had a similar problem to this last summer and it was such a nightmare. We decided to just hire plumbers from Edmonton Canada to fix the problem. Hopefully yours gets fixed soon!

My dyson dc41 does not roll as easily as when new. it has some resistance when cleaning tile, and also when cleaning carpet.

It's just dirty is all. If you vacuum some liquid, and it happens, then the fine dust Dyson is famous for picking up, can turn to gunk. I have put my tools in the dishwasher (top shelf). It takes time for the soap to work it's magic and dishwasher machines take their time to gently but persistently peel off stuck on gunk. Ya gotta clean the cleaner. You should rince you're filter as often as you clean your toilet. Your machine will last much longer and stay quiet

Rear canister valve

Hi there Coire, it's Jack at Dyson.

The valve you've described is the suction relief valve. This will open when something is restricting airflow through the vacuum cleaner.

In normal use, we recommend washing both filters at least once a month, as shown in the video above. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them in the machine.

If you find this doesn't resolve the issue it's likely your machine has a blockage - to locate and remove this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

For any further advice after you've given this a try, please contact our experts directly by calling the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

DC41 ANIMAL

Hi Ashley, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your DC41 Animal's brush bar. Although I note you've already tried resetting it, I would encourage you to try again - please make sure that you've reclined the machine into the vacuuming position as the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright. Try pressing the silver brush control switch (next to the red on/off switch) twice while the machine is turned on and reclined.

If you do need further help after trying this, please contact us directly so we can confirm if we're able to help under the terms of your DC41 Animal's 5-year warranty. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

My dyson d14 animal keeps cutting in and out. When it's on, the hole above where the filter is, keeps making a loud suction noise and it won't clean up hair and dirt.

Vacuum Cleaners require AIr-Flow. Your machine is not getting any air-flow. The noise you hear is a valve opening up to prevent your machine from overheating and burning out the motor.
You probably have an obstruction somewhere in the machine. Dysons are kind of known for that in the vacuum cleaner world.
Check all air channels and clean them out. If that fixes the problem you still might have issues that caused it to clog up.

I posted the part second because it takes 24 hours to complete it.
Be sure you wash your Washable Pre-filter. It needs to dry for 24 hours. Never put it back in the machine wet.

Once it is completely dry reinstall the pre-filter and your machine should be back to normal operating functions.

Let me know f this helps.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC15. From what you've described, it sounds as if the relief valve is activating - if you've already washed the filter, it may be activating due to a blockage in the machine. The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=813&product=DC15-SY-STD

Although I note you've already washed the filter, you may want to take a look at the video below to make sure you've cleaned it as recommended. In normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call our Helpline free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Why does my DC17 Animal vacuum keep shutting off?

Hi Emmeline,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. From what you've described, it sounds as if the thermal cutout feature is shutting the machine down to prevent overheating. If you've already tried washing the filter and are still experiencing the issue, I'd encourage you stop using the cleaner and to contact us directly so we can help. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email askdysonUS@dyson.com. We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

My Dyson keeps blowing the fuse in the plug. Every time I use it I need to change the fuse, it lasts for about five and ten minutes and then just stops.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the problem you're experiencing. From what you've described, it sounds as though the issue may be the motor's thermal cutout device rather than the fuse. Most Dyson cleaners have this safety feature to stop the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens if the filters need washing or your machine is blocked.

To check everything is correct with the cleaner, please visit our Support site and follow these simple steps:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1940&product=DC07-ANIMAL

By cleaning the filters and removing any blockages, you should be able to resolve the issue. However if you're still experiencing difficulties, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US), so we can run through some checks over the phone.

Kind regards,

Jack
