Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

My problem is with Canon pixma mx300. I refilled the ink cartridges with generic ink. No problem the first time but this time got alarm with code U051. First, your instructions for this fix are the most clear and easy to understand, step by step. However, I have tried this twice. At the step where the alarm light should go off and remove and replace cartridges I got lost. When I tried to remove cartridges they are out of reach. When I have pressed the stop/reset buttom 3x at 3sec intervals, the alarm light keeps blinking. Could you please give me a clue? Thanks, Randi

I have Canon multifunction MX310 I was using

press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition.Canon do not like you to use refills and generic carts so the function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled

Canon mx300 not recognize reffil cartridge color 51,

This cartridges has a memory chip and printer will recognized refill cartridges like empty. You can't reset the ink level on all Canon Pixma printers.Push resume button and hold it for 5 seconds. This operation releases the function for detecting the remaining ink level of the above ink.The printer shows empty cartridges but it will printing.
If this not help there is a minimum chance your cartridge is failed electrically and printer not recognized. In this case replace the cartridge.

I just refilled my black ink cartridge in my mx300 canon printer, but it still says out of black ink, I think because the cartridge has been a little overfilled. when I click on supply levels it says...

You will have to purchase a new cartridge as your printer has a mechanism built-in which detects the date of the cartridge and locks it if it was once empty and then re-filled.
You can try and ask the re-fill vendor to reset the cartridge time but not every cartridge can be initialized.

I just replaced both ink cartridges and the alarm light is now on. The LCD screen reads check ink, U053, BLK COL. I can't get the printer to work or perform any functions.

On the canon MX300, holding the "reset" button down for about 10 seconds will extinguish the alarm light & should normalize all functions. The ink level will still indicate "low" , just ignore it.

MX300 alarm

You might try a hard reset of printer along with uninstalling and reinstalling the software for the printer.
If nada, you might give Canon a call and ask their techies for their feedback on situation.
