Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

We have an Amana ap148ds room air conditioner. We shut it off for awhile, now we can't turn it on again. We unplugged and re-plugged it and reset the circuit breaker. When we try to turn it on, the light comes on for about 2 seconda, then the STOP light starts blinking. What can we do to restart the machine?

The AC will not come on and stay on. The STOP light keeps blinking and we have to unplug it to get it to stop blinking. When we plug it in again, and push the ON button, the STOP light starts blinking again. We have tried resetting the circuit breaker - that's not working either.

In order to reset the timer, we would have to have the machine on, correct? Or are we missing something. RR

HI!! If air conditioner does not operate: o Check if unit is plugged in. The plug may have come loose. o Check if the electrical wall receptacle is of proper voltage. o Check if the circuit breaker needs to be reset or if the fuse needs to be replaced. o Check if the unit is in "Off" mode.

When turning on the unit for the first time after plugging it into an electrical outlet, the unit will start in a low fan cool mode. The temperature reading out on the LED will be the current room temperature. When turning on the unit during regular usage, it will remember the last shut off setting. If you want to operate the air conditioner as a dehumidifier, then adjust to dehumidify mode.
ON/OFF TIME SET The air conditioner has a 112 hour on!off builtin timer. To delay the start time for 1 12 hours at 1 hour intervals, simply press "Timer" key (or On/OFF Timer Key) to adjust the start time. Note that the unit has to be plugged in to an electrical outlet for the timer to operate.
Good Luck!! Please, Keep me posted!!

Have you drained the water?? I missed that point when you said the unit had been stored. This is a safety feature for all portable AC's, if the tray if full, they won't work, once water is drained, they start right up. Keep me posted!

What does the E1 mean on the display

I read that this is a filter problem. There may be more than one. Turn it off and clean the filter. For many window air conditioners this code is simply a reminder to clean the air filter. After like 750 hours of run time this code pops up and you have to clean the filter and then reset the unit before it will work again. To reset the code you need to simply unplug the unit and then plug it back in again. On other units you need to hold down the power button while you reenergize the air conditioner.

On another make of window air conditioner you need to push the "fan" button twice and then the "mode" button once to reset this code. Still another person found that the circuit boards where going bad and they had to replace them to get the unit to work.

I cant find the booklet that goes with my Amana Portable Inroom AC. Model # ap148D

The Amana portable a/c units have their documentation at Haier America. The direct link to the manual you want is here: . If you want to buy the manual, go to,+Cords+%26+Wires.aspx . Scroll down to the All Parts section and then find the Use and Care Manual for $4.56. (It is a special order.)

I also found a link to the manual for the AP148DS here: . However, you need to be a registered user (free registration) to access the link. Click on the Get This Manual button and the registration/login will pop up. This may be a similar enough manual to help you use the A/C.

I hope this helps.

Air intake via hose & window or intake from room only?

Hello artrey3 The answer is yes, BUT the unit will be exausting room/basement air outside ruining any efficency the unit is rated for. Also you will need makeup/fresh air in the basement. The unit exausting air can put the basement in a vacuum/negitive pressure pulling in air from the chimney!
