Question about Sony HESV1000 200 Disc Blue-Ray Server

1 Answer

I have a blu-ray disc player. Model Bd-C5500. It seems to be telling me I am not connected to HDMI cable. I have connected the cable to the HDMI out terminal on the rear of the player to the HDMI in on the terminal of my TV. I have connected the red white and yellow cables to the tv and disc player to the indicated colors on the tv and disk player. My tv is a sansung also and both remote controls seem to be working. Where do I go from here?

HDMI and the red, white, & yellow cables are two different sources. Try using the remote to switch playback source from HDMI to the other choice not sure what Samsung calls the red, white and yellow connectors. I can tell you that the red cable is audio right, the white cable audio left and the yellow is the video.

From the modem to the blu-ray use an ETHERNET cable. From the blu-ray to TV use an HDMI cable. They only fit in the right terminals.

If you're using HDMI cables, which I suggest you do, this is how you set it up.
From the TV, you'll connect an HDMI cable to your receiver.
Connect the blu-ray player to your receiver.
There's a small amount of setup required with the receiver, but it's self explanatory.

Just bought the BD-C5500 model and set it all up but when i try to play a blu ray disc i get a message saying "your blu-ray player requires an update in order to play this disc.... Why would a brand new...

Bluray players have to be updated periodically because they are a technology in progress.
The good thing about bluray players is that you can perform the maintenance on them at home yourself and not have to buy a new bluray player when the content in the discs are changed. You can also take the unit to a Best Buy and a member of the Geek squad will do it for you for a charge.
This is the link to the update file.
http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/tv-video/blu-ray/blu-ray-players/BD-C5500/XAA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support
Click on the "Support & Downloads" tab and click "Firmware" you will see a .pdf file that contains instructions, The other file is the firmware update that you need.

HDMI - no output Samsung P1600 BD

the hdmi output generally needs activating through the menu system. im assuming you havent already done this.
connect it with whatever cable works and navigate through to the menu system to select the hdmi output.
failing that it might be the hdmi cable is an older cable not capable of supporting ver1.3

No picture from Blu-ray

If the TV works fine with other sources the problem is the HDMI output is not enabled on the BD player.
Most BD players do not output both HDMI and composite formats simultaneously. Check to make sure the HDMI output is selected on the BD player and the TV. This information is in the manuals, read the book.

Incompatible Disc in Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-Ray Disc Player

I had the exact same problem as you did... I bought the Sharp Aquos 42D85X which came with Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-ray Disc player. could not get brand new blu-ray movies to play and i found it froze everytime after 10 secs. I phoned sharp who basically were no help watsoever! I then went and returned my blu-ray movies back to the store thinking it was a problem with the discs.. The people there were extremely nice and since they had a display model of the BD-HP21X instore they offered to test the movie on it to veroify whether it was the blu-ray player was the problem or not. Turns out its a fault with all of the BD-HP21X models. So we then ended up returning it back to the store we bought it and exchanged it with the older model (BD-HP20X). I now have no problems playing blu-ray movies. Although another suggestion is to perhaps download the lastest firmware update & see if that resolves your issues.
