Check the pulley alignment, put a straight edge across should be flush. If your pullies are aligned correctly check to make sure you belt isn't too long or tensioned incorrectly.

Needing to see diagrahm of belts and pullies to fix tiller

tensioner pulleys run on the back of the v belts
most tillers move forward by the action of the tillers bur occasionally they can be belt driven
that may be the spare pulley if you have a pulley on the axle
otherwise run the belts direct to the tillers with the tensioner pulleys running on the back
would need to know make , model and year to get a diagram of the belts

My troy tiller has double pully but only has one belt. Should it not have two belts?

No, it should only have one belt. The two sets of pulleys are for different speed settings. Put the belt in the desired setting. The small engine pulley is for higher speed/ less torque. The larger engine pulley is for lower speed/ more torque.

Drive belt falls off mower

You need to inspect the pullies holding the belt, and the bearings that run the pullies. If they are bad they will jump the belt.

How to install belt on Troy bilt tiller:

With engine OFF If you put belt on engine pully and driven pulley then work the clutch handle you should be able to see how belt goes so it tightens when clutch is worked.

Changing Drive belt On Troy Built Tiller

You have to remove the engine (4 bolts, no big problem), then remove the bolt in the center of the pulleys, then remove the pulleys. Slip the belt(s) (2 if you have the Super Bronco model) onto the pulleys, re-attach the pulleys with the bolt, re-mount the engine, and you're home free.

Replace belts

It is pretty easy to change the belts. The correct size is the problem. I bought some replacements for mine and found they didn't just quite fit. I finally got them from Troy Bilt so they fit correctly. Remove the two fly nuts to the safety shield over the belts. Next remove the cotter pin that holds the idler pully to the control shaft. This will now allow you to swing the idler out of the way so the belts can be removed. A little twisting and turning and they will come out and go back in without a problem. Reconnect the idler pully and pin and make sure it is adjusted properly for operation then replace the safeth cover. Good Luck, RAC
