Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The Beam Central Vac may have more than a one year factory warranty and it sounds to me that you may have a bad relay switch the Central Vac, if you do it should be covered under the factory warranty. Otherwise, you may have a bad supervalves or a wire came loose, if the hose switch turns on the power nozzle then it may be a bad supervalve or a bad relay and to contact the installer or the manufacturer of Beam. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

The Vaccum is not turning on when i plug the hose into the wall. The hoover system will turn on when i turn the switch on at the base and wont go off till i turn the switch off. But it will not come on...

you can test this out by taking a small metal spoon and with the bottom side of the spoon insert it into the vac outlet on the wall. you want to touch the two metal pins inside the vac outlet to test if the unit is the problem or the hose is the problem.

If the unit starts, the hose should have a 3 year warranty on it. I recommend you have your nearest beam dealer check it out.

If the unit does not start, it has a 7 or 10 year warranty, the circuitry should be replaced. Again have your nearest beam dealer check it out.

good luck

We have a Beam1500 central vac. It sucks stuff off the floor, but then just clogs in the head of the unit.

The head itself is likely the power head..,which is sweeping but the neck is probably clogged. Detach your wand and look thru. Drop a coin thru your hose handle and shake thru the other end. If these are clear the issue is the head.
Then check the neck of the head itself. It may be necessary to open as though changing the belt, generally by several screws in the base of the head.

My beater head will not turn on

If you could wire the beater head with out using the hose you could determine if the short is in the hose or in the head. If you wire the head directly and it turns on obviously you have a short in the hose. It is possible to change just the switch and wiring harness in the handle if it is bad. If you have a Vacuum store near you that sells central vacs it would only take them a minute to check your hose for continuity to see if electricity is getting through your handle.

Some heads have a reset button also. Make sure you check that out first!

Carbon buildup on plug to hose causing burn

Sounds like there could be a short in the hose. Try another hose and see if that's the problem. It's too soon to have to replace the unit. Try having the hose checked out, it could be the root of your problem

NuTone CV353 Central Vac does not start when hose is plugged into

Try to plug the hose in sideways. So the top of the hose is rotated 90 degrees. If the unit turns on then there is something wrong with the hose. It might be a short or it could be a bad switch on the handle. If the unit still wont turn on I would think that maybe the low voltage wire got disconnected from the unit or there is a break in the low voltage wire somewhere along the way. Let me know if you plugging the hose in sideways works.

I need a new hose for my Electrolux central vac

Do you need a new powerhead too or only the hose? If you need a new powerhead than I would recommend looking at the Imperium Pro Elite Attachment set. It is an excellent quality powerhead and hose. If you only need a new hose than you will need to contact the Aerus because they will be probably be the only company who can sell you a hose that wil be compatible with your powerhead. Their website is http://www.aerusonline.com/products/

Vac running and won't shut off

The first thing I would do is to disconnect the low voltage wires from the unit. Does the unit continue to run? If so, it's probably an internal relay sticking in the unit. You can fix this yourself is you are handy, but I suggest calling your local dealer if you have any doubt. If the unit doesn't continue running, than you most likely have a short in low voltage wiring in your house. Check your inlet valves first by removing the screws and looking behind the faceplates. If you have inlets that are powered with 110v for you power nozzle (Supervalves, or Electravalves), be very careful as you could be exposed to 110vac. Check your vacpans too, if you have any. The wires should not be touching anywhere. If the two wires touch, the machine should come on. Good Luck!!

I have a 3 year old NuTone CV 353W central vac system and recently the switch on the hose handle does not turn the system on from any outlet in the house. I have to plug the hose into the outlet and then turn the unit on from the switch on the canister. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are a couple of things that come to mind, 1st. you may have a bad switch in the hose and in most cases that can be repaired – if not you would have to purchase a new vacuum hose. 2nd. You may have a bad inlet valve in your hose and most of them are low volt of which would only cost less than $10.00 and can be replaced yourself unless you have what they call a SuperValve of which has 2 low volt wires and then it is wired to your home electricity and that should be replaced by an licensed electrician. It is a low volt and high volt inlet.

#3. the last thing you may check id that you may have a bad relay in the canister itself. Because you should be able to turn on the Central Vac with the switch on the hose and everything should work just fine . feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area of call the Nutone Factory cust serv line for further assistance. Electrolux central vac problems

I work on many types of units. If you electric floor brush runs but you have no suction then there is possibly a problem with the relay board that allows you to turn on the suction from the hose handle. This is a low voltage (24 V) switching loop circuit that will cause the 120 V motor in the unit to run.

Inside the wall valve are two brass pins. NOTE: there are 120V valves installed on some systems known as a Super Valve. A shock hazared exists if you work on that type of valve. That being said. In the round portion of the valve you can use a garage hose that has a 360 deg. chrome ring to test the valve. The ring completes the circuit causing the unit to power up and suction at the end of the hose. If the suction is weak, there is a colg in the pipe. If you hear no airflow, the relay inside the unit did not energize or the motor is bad.

To test: go to the unit and turn the switch on the side to "manual" if the unit turns on the motor should be ok. DO NOT RUN THE UNIT without and open valve. In some brands dammage to your motor will occure.

If the unit did not run, look for a small button near the switch. This is a circuit breaker for the motor. If it is poped out and you hear a "click" when you press it in there is most likely motor problems and someone should be contacted for repair.

Hope this helps!!
