It's the dialog box, I disabled Automatic Updates. I cannot not get into the Microsoft Updates site because I keep getting the message "You need to restart your computer in order to view future updates.

  • mazeon May 17, 2008

I had already done that, no success. Let me start at the beginnning. I have Automatic Updates turned on to automatically download and install updates. One night (early APRIL) the updates downloaded and the dialog box came up to "restart the computer for the updates to take effect." That was a month ago and many restarts later. I've turned off "Automatic Updates" and deleted the "reboot required" option in the system files. These are not fixes to the problem. When trying to access the "Microsoft Update" site I get the error message (08xddd0007) which says to "restart the computer before I can view or receive updates." It seems to me that the computer is not recognizing that it has been restarted. Any suggestions?

Is it bubble that comes up in the right hand coner of your computer or is it a dialog box, if it a dialog box there should be a, restart now or a remind me later button, if its that then say restart now and see if this solves your problem, then try going to microsoft updates

May be some applications are causing the root cause of an issue. To fixed this problem start the computer in safe mode. For the instruction open this link.

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true

And then type msconfig in Run box. Goto start up and disable unwanted program and restart your computer. Then check your issue has been fixed or not.

How to Reset HP Pavilion Password on Notebook Computer

kathli.jpg

Pavilion BIOS password reset is commonly needed. Today, we talk about HP Pavilion Windows password reset solutions. Our Windows OS users can set up administrator account and encrypt it with password to enter the OS. This actually prevents unauthorized users from operating on your system. While, if we Pavilion PC users forget the encrypted password and can't login Windows, now what to do for HP Pavilion password reset?

Firstly, if there are not important files on our HP Pavilion notebook, we can reinstall system by deleting all data and cleaning system. Most of us may hope opt for other ways to bypass the Pavilion login password.

Secondly, please think that is there still another account for us to enter Pavilion PC. In Windows XP, Vista, there is HP Pavilion default administrator which has blank password. For Windows 7, the built-in administrator account is disable defaulted. Only if we set it as enable, the account can be used at the moment.
Take HP Pavilion Windows XP password reset from Safe Mode as example:
a. Press "F8" when Pavilion laptop starts.
b. At the "Advanced Boot Options" windows, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and Enter, then PC enters Safe Mode.
c. Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Note that if we have set this HP Pavilion administrator password, we need to input the password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.
d. Start - Control Panel - User Accounts.
e. Select the locked account and reset password for the locked account.
f. Restart Pavilion laptop and login with the account newly password reset.

Thirdly, the least troublesome solution on Pavilion password recovery is to opt for password reset program tool. With the program and a CD/DVD/USB disk, we can easily remove the password for locked computer. Take Windows Password Recovery Corporation as example:
Step1. Burn .iso file to a CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive on an accessible PC;
Step2. Set locked computer to boot from CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive;
Step3. Recover forgotten Windows password with the burned CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive.

Certainly that the 3 ways can make sure we reset Pavilion password finally. The Windows Password Recovery Corporation can be used for Windows 7, XP, Vista, and Windows Server 2003, 2008 domain password, etc.

Goodmorning.. This is naome from the Philippines. I got this problem with my PC it was infected with this worm/virus named jhowly-bee and I was wondering if my Hp Pavilion Entertainment PC can be converted...

You might try it, if it is already infected with the virus. Make sure it's not a virus that resides in memory or CMOS.

After that, you can format and reinstall with windows XP. There is a program call Driver Genius Professional which will search all the drivers for you.

If it doesn't work, just reinstall the OEM Vista.

Hope it helps.
God Bless You

Recommend entering Windows XP CD, and entering R once the CD Boots up, and enters installation mode.

This will bring you into the Admin panel, enter password, and than enter chkdsk c: -f Once this is completed eject CD, and than restart XP.

Windows will not start file is missing or corrupe system 32 drivers ntfs.sys first time this hapen its a hp pavillian destop a700n

Sometimes this error can be fixed by running a CHKDSK from the Recovery Console.

Basically, boot your XP CD and select to repair your installation with the Recovery Console, then enter the command:

chkdsk c: /R

If this doesn't solve the issue, you may be looking at a repair install, also called an in-place upgrade.

More info about that here:

Hope this helps!

You should install Windows XP that came with your computer with the recovery program that is built-in with an HP computer. The Windows that comes with your computer includes all the drivers and software needed specifically for an HP Laptop.

Here's a link to HP's website outlining all the ways to Recover your Laptop and reinstall your Windows XP Operating System back to factory default including how to create a set of your own Recovery Disks:

How to restart hp pavillion 7965 desktop

Hi there. Try these steps:

1. On restart, press F8. This should bring you to a screen with various boot options.

2. Select "Last known good configuration". Windows then may load correctly.

3. If this doesn;t work, try the same thing. This time select "boot in Safe Mode". If Windows now loads in Safe Mode you should be able to restart and Windows may load correctly after this.

4. If these two both fail, you may have to repair Windows...
