Adding a telephoto lens

I have a S5200 and I wanted to use a telephoto lens for some bird pictures. When I put the telephoto lens on, the photo frame turns into a small circle? Any ideas??

Try zooming in. That usually gets rid of the "vignetting" you are experinecing.

How to connect vivitar wide angle lens and telephoto to canon t2i

make sure the vivtar lens is "58mm" diameter (shoutstate this near the fron of the vivtar lens) then it should be a question of screwing the lens on top of the other lens. not the best way of getting wide angle shots as the 18-55 is pretty soft in focusing already and adding another inferior lens will make it look poor. if you don't want to buy a lens i would suggest investing in a tripod and take multiple shots with the 18-55 and stitch them together with a photo editing tool like photoshop

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to take pictures with a telephoto and any other AF-S lens, then it means that your problem lies with the standard lens. With standard, I assume you mean the kit lens. If you can take picture in manual mode, but not in autofocus mode, then the AF motor in the lens in not functioning, I had the same thing happen to my 50mm 1.4 lens. The kit lens is under 5 years warranty in the US, provided you are the original purchaser/owner of the camera kit.
Depending on your location, there are Nikon repair centers in Melville, NY and Torrance, CA.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

Well i was wondering how i could get a bokeh effect behind a subject? does anyone know? is it possible to do this without a filter?

hello! Yes, you can since the Coolpix L100 has a 15X telephoto lens, you can use the second method described below.
Bokeh is a photographic term used to describe a lens effect wherein the background of the photo is out of focus. This effect is used to blur out distracting backgrounds and give emphasis to the the primary subject of the photo. There are two ways to get bokeh when taking pictures. The first is by using a very large aperture to get a shallow depth of field. You can set your camera’s aperture to f/5 or below. This will effectively throw everything behind your subject out of focus. You can also blur out the background of your photo by using a long telephoto lens. There is no hard rule on how long your lens should be but the longer its reach, the more pronounced the bokeh is going to be.

I am having trouble photographing birds. Do I use the telephoto lens or the wide angle lens? I also have a macro lens for my Canon EOS 400D SLR Also what settings do I take them at. I have a tripod but the...

Use the telephoto lens.. wide angle will tend to distort the image and provide too much detail( distraction) around the object of interest. Bird pictures become more interesting when they are mainly of the bird. So when you look through the lens, zoom up to the bird to the point where you have it nicely framed with none of its parts outside of the frame.
Capture the whole image.

Wide angle lens is mainly used for scenery or where you want to take a group photo or panorama.

I want to use fairly telephoto lens in D3 slr nikon camera

You don't say what sort of telephoto you want to buy or how much money you want to spend but basically anything longer than a 50 mm is regarded as telephoto.
A staring point for you maybe the lens listed below: Nikon Telephoto Zoom 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR
It importantly has VR or "Vibration Reduction" on it to reduce camera blur when hand holding telephoto shots. This is just a staring point... You need to work out what you want to photograph Cheers Ian

I want to add lens to my fujifilm s5600 to take better pics

There are lenses available to add with an adapter ring. I have the wide angle lens (which I LOVE) and a 2x telephoto lens. The wide angle lens allows me to macro from several feet away. It is an amazing lens. The telephoto lens is something you really need to use with a tripod. But yes, there are lenses you can add to your camera.

Flashless photograghy

If you set the camera to P (program) the flash will not pop up automatically but the camera will still control the shutter speed and aperature settings automatically. Also with the lens you are using you should probably have a tripod which will help you hold the camera more steady.

Image reduced by dark edges

An adapter tube has to flare out at the end or it will cut the corners off at the wide angle setting. Telephoto should be ok though.

Telephoto lens for digital camera

It will not work because it is the wrong thread size. Here is info on the Olympus TCON-17 lens for the 5050: TCON-17 (1.7X) Telephoto Conversion Lens Extend the capabilities of your digital camera with the TCON-17 Telephoto Converter lens. This telephoto lens will increase the magnification of your subject by 1.7x when your camera lens is set to the telephoto position. This will help you bring in the subject when you can't get closer, for example, shooting sports or concerts. Please see below for additional items required to attach this lens to your camera. The following models require the CLA-1 and 43-55mm Step-Up Ring: C-2000/2020/2040/3000/3020/3030/3040/4000/4040/5050 Zoom ....... The video lens is too small (diameter). If you found one with a 43mm thread and put it on the 5050, you would experience severe vignetting (clipping of the corners of the photo).
