I have a Daewoo Nano Silver WINDOW A/C #DWC055RL. It doesn't cool the room. I am unable to change the temperature . Please help.

  • suereal Aug 19, 2010

If this is common with this AC, where does that leave me? Is the unit caput? Can I fix it ?This is a fairly new unit and was not used much at all. How can I contact the company if I can't fix it?

  • suereal Aug 19, 2010

Even though I found out that my AC unit is not worth fixing, it's good to get closure on the matter. Willard answered all my questions and concerns. He was very professional & responded to each of my replies in a very timely manner.
    Thank you!

Your clock board is bad. This happens when moisture from the outside gets into the electronic circuit board. This is common with your model of AC.

Yes there is your local tech or a AC repairmen can order this clock board for like $30.00. One question is it still under warranty?

  • suereal Aug 19, 2010

No, it's not under warranty. And it makes me mad b/c it was stored indoors in winter. And not used much. I want to contact Daewood. Do you know how to do that? By the time I order the part , then pay a service person, it might just not be worth it. What do you think,WIllard?

  • Willard Broughton Aug 19, 2010

Let me get that information for you. How much did you pay for your unit.

  • Willard Broughton Aug 19, 2010

877-893-7823 I think it would be better to get a new unit

  • suereal Aug 19, 2010

I don't really remember; not an exorbitant amount. I really feel that the company ought to honor this defect. If you can get me the customer service info, I would greatly appreciate it. I tried online, but was not successful.
And thank you for your help.

Hi,

A central air conditioner that runs but doesn't cool may just need to be cleaned. Plan to do this on a relatively warm day. First look for your owner's manual and, if you can find it, follow its instructions. If you can't find it, request one from the manufacturer (see Resources).

To clean the filter, remove it from the furnace or air handler (it?s usually located inside or very near the air inlet side). Replace a disposable filter or clean a reusable filter according to the manufacturer?s directions.

1) Before you begin, check the thermostat to make sure it is set to "cool" rather than "heat." Then turn off the power to the unit; there is normally a shut-off or disconnect panel on the house wall next to the outdoor compressor. Otherwise, shut off the air conditioner's 240-volt circuit at the main electrical panel.

2) Rake leaves and debris away from the outdoor condenser.

3) Remove any protective grille or cover from the condenser's fins.

4) Use a soft brush to clean dirt and debris from the fins, then vacuum them with a brush attachment (be careful not to bend or damage them). If you accidentally bend fins, you can buy a comb made for straightening them at an appliance parts store.

5) Unscrew and lift the top grille off the unit, if possible. If the fan is attached to the grille, be careful not to pull any wires loose.

6) From inside the unit, hose out the fins (protect the wiring and motor with plastic). If your owner's manual calls for lubricating the motor, do that now--don't over-lubricate.

7) Then reassemble the unit.

8) To test it, turn the power on and set the thermostat to turn the unit on. Let it run for a few minutes, then feel the two pipes that connect to the condenser unit (slide any insulation back). One should feel warm, the other cool. Otherwise, call an air conditioning technician--the refrigerant may need to be recharged.

NOTE: Avoid straining an air conditioner's compressor by waiting at least five minutes between turning it off at the thermostat and turning it back on.

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

How to trouble shoot Daewood air conduitioner

clean intake filter. if already cleaned, have system recharged or replace unit. air comes into the unit through the front and out the top vents,, if block or restricted it wont cool. if the air flow is good its how cold the evaporator is. so either freon level is low or compressor is bad.

Hello, I have a brand new AC of that model, in the box with remote that I'd be happy to sell. That way you could have two AC units and a remote. I'm in Laguna Beach, CA.
Thank you,
