Oh dear. That could be bad. it is telling you that it wants to lose everything and start again. we don't have that model, but I can try a flag clear with you, and it sometimes will have the program intact. It usually happens if the machine has been stored too long, or the battery has failed.

Turn the key to program mode.
Turn the power off at the wall.
Hold RECEIPT FEED button down. make sure it is receipt feed, NOT journal feed.
Turn power on at wall, and keep holding button down.
Wait 10 seconds.
Now let go of RECEIPT FEED, and you should see 'FFFFFFFFF' on the display.
Press SUBTOTAL. It should print out after a few seconds. If it doesn't, press SUBTOTAL again.
Check the print out, and you will see a copyright message etc. Look at the bottom right of the paper, and you should see a big number there. If it has all zeros there, then you have lost everything, and you'll need to start from scratch. Otherwise, turn key back to reg mode, and try it.

If you get stuck, just let me know.

How to clear the register when getting the error message. Clerk not signed in

Press the clear (CL) button to clear the error. Type in your logon code (PIN number) and press the clerk (CLK) button. If you have forgotten your PIN number, you can program a new one. One of the users has a manual here:

Sharp XE*A20S error code 7-15P

It sounds like you are seeing the time display. Turn the key to REG mode and try pressing CL (clear). If it doesn't beep, get the keyboard checked by a technician

I have a sharp electronic cash register xe-a 101 with the error E 00 what's does that mean???

E indicates an 'error' and the '00' is just part of the display, not a specific code.

Here is a link to the manual. It discusses error conditions and how to clear them:

You need to finish the flag clear.
Turn key to PROGRAM mode. Turn power off at wall. Hold RECEIPT FEED down - keep your finger on it. Turn power on at wall. Wait 5 seconds, then let go of RECEIPT FEED. You should see "FFFFFFFFFF" on display. Press SUBTOTAL. Wait for print out. Turn back to REG mode (you may need to sign back on)

E32

In Sharp registers, Error 32 means no cashier is signed on. It should be just a matter of touching 'CL' to clear the error, then '1' "CASH #" to sign on as Cashier 1. Go straight from there to entering a sale.
Sharp allows a program option to force signing on before every sale, but it's not the default. Somebody probably accidentally signed off by touching the CASH # button without a number.
Another program option which probably doesn't apply here is to hide the cashier code, putting only dashes or stars on the display & receipts. In that case you have to enter CASH # [code] CASH # to sign on.
