If the unit was purchased less than three years ago you can still get it covered under warranty as addressed on microsoft by clicking here. this is actually a serious problem and effects a few consoles, much like the RROD if it is not under warranty you can try doing this and i stress the not. Make sure of this by calling microsoft before attempting this. if you do not want to do the overheat fix i suggest either A. find a company that fixes xbox's and provides a real reflow. Not a heatgun and a fan. But a actual infrared reflow station. or B. Send it to microsoft and pay the money to get it repaired. or C. sell it on your local craigslist or to someone that repairs them locally and use the money to buy a new xbox 360 slim or a used xbox 360 that is working but then someone might have already done the overheat trick and it may not have much life left.

i have done this before and after he 2nd time i sent it to a company to reflow the xbox for 30 dollars. An i havent had a problem since. remember what is done in the video is only if your not covered under the extended warranty or e74

Xbox-360 elite lower right hand red flashing led light code error E73

If you get the Xbox 360 1 red light message, it means that the problem is either with the DVD drive, or with the hard drive.

Fortunately, the Xbox 360 1 red light message is not something that you should worry about. In order to identify which of the two drives the Xbox 360 1 red light messages is referring to, just look the code number that the screen displays. DVD drive errors are identified with the codes E64, E65 and E66, whereas hard drive errors are identified with codes E67, E69 and E79.

Once you identify which error the Xbox 360 1 red light message is pointing to, fixing it is really easy. The guide available at Fix-xbox360.info will tell you what to do in each case, as well as what to do in case you get any of the other Xbox 360 lights messages. Check it out.

When I turned on my system, it had system error contact xbox customer support. There is a red light flashing on the bottom right, around the power button. I don't know what to do. Please help.

Some of us suddenly when we turn on our Xbox 360 console one day we got one red light flashes on the ROL (Ring of Light) around the Xbox 360 power button, and we got an Error message appearing on the TV screen "System error" also might occur with any error code like E66, E67, E68, E71, E74 or E77, all the same.
systemerrore74.jpg
When you get any of these messages appearing on your screen with one red light flashing on the ROL of your Xbox 360 console that's an indicator of a hardware problem with the console connection to one of the parts connected to it as the hard drive or cables.

oneredlight.jpg
So, first disconnect all power and AV cables from the back of your Xbox 360 console and also unplug the power cord from the wall socket, wait for a minute then reconnect them all back and try to turn on your Xbox 360 console once more.

If that doesn't work, it seems then to be a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so turn off the console again and remove the hard drive then turn on your Xbox 360 console without the hard drive, supposed then to work fine, it might be an intermittent issue and when you reconnect the hard drive your Xbox 360 will work fine all after, or it will just work fine without the hard drive so it will be then definitely a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so call Xbox 360 customer support to exchange the hard drive for you.

The Xbox 360 console might even keep giving you the same error code even after you remove the hard drive so it will then appear to be a fault with your Xbox 360 console not the hard drive & also in a case like this we need to contact Xbox 360 customer support to exchange the console.

Red light come on xbox360 what is the problem

If you get red light around your xbox power button the you have red ring of death. This is when your Xbox has overheated. While im not all that famlier with Xbox I have read there is a 6 cent fix (cause you use 6 pennies) You would have to read up because as I sid before not great with Xbox. I'm sure microsoft would do it to but hey if you good with tools 6 cents sounds pretty cheap.
Im sorry for your loss

1 flashing red ring

The lower-right quadrant of the Ring of Light flashes red on the front of your Xbox 3602.gif console. You also receive the following error message in multiple languages on your television screen or monitor:
System Error2.gif. Contact Xbox Customer Support. This message begins with an error code in the format "Exx," where xx is a two-digit number.

The following indicator will flash on and off repeated on the front panel of your Xbox 360 console:
Collapse this imageExpand this image 1rol.gif
If one red light is flashing and you receive a different error message2.gif or error code than those that were described previously or you don’t receive an error message or code, your console may be experiencing a different issue. In this case, see "References/links."

This problem occurs when your Xbox 360 console experiences a hardware failure.

  1. Turn off your console, disconnect and reconnect all cables, and then turn on your console.
  2. If an Xbox Hard Drive2.gif is attached to your console, turn off your console, and then remove the Xbox Hard Drive. Turn on your console, and test for the error. If the error does not reoccur, turn off your console and reattach the Xbox Hard Drive. Run alternate additional tests by having the Xbox Hard Drive connected and disconnected to see whether the error occurs only when the Xbox Hard Drive is connected. For more information if the on-screen alphanumeric error is E67, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 917874 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917874/ ) One of the lights on the Ring of Light on the front of your Xbox 360 console flashes red and you receive one of the following error codes and message: "E67, or E68, or E69. System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support"
  3. If an Xbox Memory Unit (MU) is plugged in to your console, turn off your console, and then remove the Memory Unit. Turn on your console again, and test for the error. If the error does not reoccur, turn off your console and reinsert the MU. Run alternate tests by having the MU connected and disconnected to see whether the error occurs only when the MU is connected.
  4. If this problem continues to occur, contact Xbox Customer Service. Note If the agent cannot help you resolve this problem, you must return your console to Microsoft for repair.

Got on red light,E74

An E74 error is when the lower-right quadrant of the ring piece indicator flashes red and displays an error message in multiple languages: "E74 System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support". The error is caused when there's a video problem with the Xbox's hardware scaler chip being damaged. As of April 14, 2009, the E74 error is now covered by the three-year extended warranty.

My xbox 360 has error 74

The E74 malfunction is a problem believed to be associated with the system's video output cables and/or hardware scaler chip. The problem involves unusual screen patterns, the appearance of an on-screen error message, and finally a flashing red light in the lower right quadrant of the power ring. When a system suffers from the failure the on-screen message reads "E74 System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support."

You could send it in to Microsoft of you can follow the steps as outlined in this You Tube video.
