1. Does YOUR charger work on her computer? If yes, you need to replace her charger.

2. If YOUR charger doesn't work on her computer, then the problem is most likely a broken power jack (or a "cold solder joint" on the power jack). The power jack is mounted directly on the motherboard, therefore the entire computer needs to be disassembled to repair it. Here's a link to a YouTube video showing this repair:

I have no power no icons it will not turn on

There are a lot of possible reasons why your computer isn't turning on. Here are the things that you can do to identify the reason of the problem.

Remove the battery and use the charger to power up your computer. If it turns on well, then replace the battery in your computer. If the charger does not turn on your computer, then check the charger if it's still working fine or the port where the power charger goes. Check if there are signs of damages in the port of your computer.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Without the Make, Model of computer It's difficult to help. But a word of advise, Beware of inexpensive aftermarket Batteries and cord/chargers. They sometimes , at best, do not work properly, a worst, can be a fire hazzard. It's cheap for a reason. Be sure to buy the EXACT power specs, Voltage, Amperage. Look to the Laptop Manufacturer for exact replacement. They may be pricey, but , in the long run a better bet.

If your computer won't charge the battery, but the battery charges fine in another computer, and you are sure that the charger is good, then your problem is probably the DC power jack. If you wiggle the end of the power cord where it attaches to you laptop, and it starts charging properly, then the DC power jack is broken.

Battery stopped working

Hey,

Test your charger, the battery light blinking and the computer not starting up indicates not enough power to start up or not pluged into ac power, check the power adapter or charger. I suspect the battery is fine.

Thanks,

Keeps loosing battery/power

If it will not work on AC Adapter without battery in it, then you have a bad AC Adapter and the battery is fine. You don't have to get an expensive AC adapter from the original manufacturer. Just look on the bottom of the AC adapter and write down the Volts and Wattage. You can get another at a place like Lowe's or Home Depot. But you must make sure that the Voltage matches exactly, to much voltage and it will fry your computer, to little voltage and it will not run your computer.
