By Belkin Wireless G Plus Nimo router loses connection every few minutes. Most noticeably on the direct connected PC. So the cable router is connected to a LAN cable to the Belkin and then a second LAN cable goes from the Belkin to the back of my direct connected PC. It will drop every so often and I have a box pop up saying connection lost attempting 1 of 20 to reconnect. I am using Trend Micro for Internet Security and Firewall.

. you may have to check the windows firewall to see if you have the security set properly.
2. check the status of you router by going into the router to see if you have proper connectivity with your ISP (insternet Service Provider).
3. Do a "ipconfig /all to see if you have media connection. If not then you will need to do a ipconfig release/ renew . this is to update the IP address given by your iSP.
4. Check the ethernet cable . Replace it with a known good ehternet cord ( make sure you don't have a crossover cord connected).
5. check your Trend Micro firewall and see if you don't have any thing blocked especially port 8080 ( the internet port).
6.call your provider to see if the line has been conditioned. if this is DSL.
If There is a problem then a field tech will have to be sent to your premise to check the phone line drop cable to you house and the connection at the pole to see if there is damage. There is a fee charge if no issue are found with the line and it will be added to your bill.

if you connect the modem directly to your computer, Does it work ?
If you are not able to go online when connected directly to the modem then you will need to call ISP.
If you are able to go online when connected to the modem only then you will need to check the settings of the router.

Belkin Nimo wireless router internet drop outs

There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.
1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up.
2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? Ie. change the default password, setup encryption use WAP2 or WAP, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router.
3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, ard welders, washing machines etc. If so the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) .
4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize the interference with your wireless router from the wireless routers and access points in your area.

Trying to create a bridge with two routers

You do not need a bridge if you are using a wireless adaptor on your pc in the other room. Just set up the Belkin Plus router to the WEP security settings you want and make sure the pc wireless usb adaptor has the same settings as the router. You should be good to go. Good Luck.

Belkin Wireless G Router causes loss of internet connection

Does your router have one LED lamp for each "wired" port?
If so, does unplugging the Ethernet-cable (the one that connects to your desktop PC) cause the lamp to go off?
Does reconnecting that cable cause the lamp to go on?

Also, on your desktop computer, there could be a lamp right beside where the Ethernet-cable connects into your computer.
Again, disconnect the cable, and reconnect the cable, to see if that lamp goes off/on.

Have you tried a different cable?

Do *NOT* connect your desktop computer to the 'WAN' port on the router -- connect it to any of the "LAN" ports.

Wish to change my password on the Belkin G Plus Nimo router and cannot remember where to go to get in and do it

1. Access the router's setup page by going to 192.168.2.1.
2. By default, there is no username and no password. Otherwise if you have created a password to access the router's page already then use that password.
3. If you want to change the administrative password of the router, go to "System Settings".
4. If you want to change the wireless security for your wireless connection, then go to wireless settings tab of the router.
