Question about HTC Touch P3450 Smartphone
May be you have purchased a cellular company handset like Airtel
it does not support other service providers like vodafone etc.
it will work only with that service provider.
check the default ring tone section. if it has that companys ringtone in it , then use the same service providers SIM card...
it will work wonderfully... after all it is htc smart phone dont worry it will work.
before that do perform a hard reset so as to set to default settings.

Tips for a great answer:

Sometimes the sim pick up some dirt. Clean off the
dirt spots of the sim. If this does not solve the problem, try another sim in the handset.
If the sim work fine, remove it and try adding a piece of paper
folded once between the sim card and
gate, this gate type has a tendency to not have enough pressure on contacts,
If this does
not resolve issue then you would be looking for a replacement
Ask your service provider for a new sim card. They might give it to you for free...
