Question about Whirlpool LER4634J Electric Dryer

1 Answer

I have a LER4624BQO it was working fine then for the second load it hums when I press the button but it wont start or anything. Checked breaker to the fuse in the house and that looks fine. Could it be the heating fuss inside the unit?

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description ( "the second load it hums when I press the button but it wont start or anything" ) it certainly sounds like a faulty motor.

Try running the unit empty and see if you experience the same symptom after a 60min timed dry cycle.

If it hums when pushing the start button this indicates the motor is receiving the "start command" but cannot, likely due to overheating from poor ventilation and even if the vent is corrected it`s likely irreversibly damaged.

The motor part # is 279827 and will look like this...

I have a LER4624BQO it - 56d8096.jpg
This can also be caused by a large amount of lint built up around the motor which prevents it from cooling proper.

Here`s a helpful link for Whirlpool dryer repairs which may help in the "how to" department so you can go in yourself and try cleaning it and what to look for etc.

Sounds like something not leting the motor turn. Perhaps something in the fan i've seen pencils
nails or almost anything . Check for frozen rollers or belt pully. Last check motor , the bearing may be bad. Sounds like may be motor. Hope this helps

Pump just hums but wont start

Sounds like its frozen and causing a very heavy load on your circuit. If the motor gets hot within seconds, its shot and needs replacing. Have you attempted to turn the motor over by hand ?

Dryer wont start when start button is pressed, but humming sound

I'd sure start by making sure the belt isn't broken. You can usually see the belt with a flashlight after accessing the panel (some are in front, others in the rear) - don't go probing around bare armed without unplugging the unit....

Dryer quit working - will not do anything when "start" button is pressed

It would help to have the model number. the model number is on the front panel that the door shuts to. Have you checked your breaker? If your breaker is fine and you are getting power to the machine write back with your model number and I will try to help.

Power is on but wont wash or anything only hums when i press start

the buzz or hmmm noise is probably coming form a clogged drain pump assy, something has gotten into it and is preventing normal operation. youll need to remove the lower acess panel (2 screws aong hte bottom of the front of unit) from there youll gain acess to the drain pump in the rught front corner, pull off the hoses and check for obstructions, even look within the white pump impeller housin gas well. UNPLUG UNIT FIRST!!!!ALWAYS LIVE WIRES TO DRAIN PUMP ASSY
