We cannot determinr if there is or is not a problem with th fax/copier until we know if the machine will operate in accordance with the instructions provided in the user's manual.
Visit the support section of the Samsung web site and order a replacement user's manual. If it is no longer available, you will have to try to find one by doing a Google search or perhaps trying E-Bay.
I can't remember off the top of my head -- it's in User Tools, either under System Settings and then Address Book, or under Fax Settings. But you can download the manual here, and it will tell you:
None of the Brother machines print the image on a transmission report. It's a security thing so that someone else even the repair shop can't see what you are sending. If you go into reports and print the user settings it will tell you what the settings are and how to find them. Real time fax is in the advanced fax setup.

According to the manual one of the things that can cause this is if the data cable (USB) was disconnected from the printer while the job is printing. Press the Cancel button on the printer, that should clear the memory. Also make sure you don't have print jobs in the queue if the printer is connected to a pc.

There is no much to hook up, you hook up the RJ11 phone connector at the back of the printer to the phone line. Install printer software onto the computer. Then connect printer to computer using USB cable.
