Question about NorStar M7310 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Office Moves/Swaps I have had several office moves within our building and the personnel wish to take their phone numbers with them to their new offices. I am somewhat familiar with PBX systems but previously did move/swaps from a computer, not through a phone. I know very little about our current system and the user manuals don't appear to address my question. How do I change phone numbers in each of the affected offices so that the phone numbers can follow their "owners"?

Dial "F * 0" (Feature, star, zero), which is Button Inquiry, and press an intercom button to see the extension number of the telephone. If Set Relocation is set to "Yes", then the extension number & mailbox will follow the phone when it is moved. Move only two phones at a time, and wait until they completely "boot-up" before moving additional phones.
Hope this helps.

In my workplace, when you move the Nortel M7100 phone, the programmed info (extension number, etc) moves along, just like if I was rewiring all phones. Have you tried just to unplug the phone and plug it on the new location? Here the extension number moves along with the equipment... (Nortel Norstar M7208 and M7100). Good Luck!

I can't change the main greeting for our office line..

Unfortunately, Office systems are all controlled by a central system that requires an administrator to make changes such as recording the system answer menu, creating menu systems, etc. This is usually done by the I.T. department or private contractor. Sounds like maybe you have a gap in personnel. If that's the case, you'll need to call Nortel for support. Thanks for using Fixya!
