If your Acer came with restore CD's than load it into you're CD-ROM drive & boot to it. From factory there is either a small partition on you're drive D:\ Stored on the D:\ are files that are used when running Restore. You will not damage you're notebook. You should go to Acer & download any new drivers for you're Acer model. After download & uncompress if they are not .exe's. Burn to a CD or DVD. Go ahead & format than reinstall you're windows.
Other items you might want to back up to CD/DVD is personal data, address book, my documents folder. Identities folder, favorites folder & desktop folder.

Good Luck!

Need to reset acer aspire 1200 desktop

The Aspire One is a netbook produced by Acer; it does not come equipped with a CD ROM drive, so a traditional hard drive reformat and Windows reinstallation is not possible without a peripheral storage device. An external USB CD or flash drive will suffice, however.Difficulty:Moderate

Instructions

    • 1 Plug in the external CD drive, then turn on your netbook and let it boot to your operating system.
    • 2 Open your web browser and go to the BootDisk website (see link in Resources). Download the Windows XP Fresh Install Bootable CD, then burn these files to a blank CD via your external CD drive.
    • 3 Ensure the files have burned to your bootable CD, then restart the netbook with the CD still in the drive.
    • 4 The netbook should boot to the CD upon the restart. Follow the instructions prompted for installation. Upon completion you will have a clean installation of Windows XP on your Acer Aspire One.

How resstore my acer aspire to factory settings?

There should have been a recovery disk created or included when you bought a laptop. Insert disk if you have it and restart your computer with the recovery disk in the CD drive. Make sure all your documents and personal data are backed up. When the computer restarts it should start restoring your computer to the factory default. There will be a wizard to guide you through the process. If there is not a disk, then follow this steps:
1.Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives. Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive.
2.Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook.
3.Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen. The recovery menu will load.
4.Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options. Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings. Follow the instructions on the screen.
5.Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears. Reboot the netbook when you are prompted.
6.Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

hope this helps,Goodluck..

Please help me. Acer hung up on me and wanted $70 to walk me through an error there computer bestowed upon me. We bought this 3 months ago for Habitat for Humanity. I am an intern here and we are...

Assuming the keyboard and mouse are wired/usb type, I would unplug them both, then restart the machine. Wait for windows to completely load, then plug them back in (preferably into different usb ports) then wait 60 seconds... That should resolve your issue.

Tap F5 as pc is booting to go into safe mode. Once there type msconfig in the run box and wait for window. Under the startup :tab: uncheck everything that is there unless it says "SYSTEM" next to it. Then restart pc.

Try rebooting it with the cd you ejected back in, to see if the installation finishes. If this does not work, take the disk back out and try booting with the option Last Good Configuration.

I HAVE A ACER LAPTOP 5315 HOW CAN I SET IT BACK TO THE SETTING AS WHEN I BOUGHT IT? PLEASE HELP

Try pressing F11 as you boot up and before the Windows starts (assuming you use Windows). On initial start you'll get some ACER banner, immediatly press F11 several times. This must happen before Windows begins. From there you can RESTORE if your system has this original factory partition. If not then the only way is to have your original SYSTEM RESTORE discs or ask ACER how to get them.

How do i turn my acer laptop bak to the day i bourght it it havs vister on it and i can not instal any programs on it

If you still have the recovery discs, just insert that, and reboot the computer. Make sure it's set to boot from cd first in bios.

If not, then you can try ALT+F10 or CTRL+F10 during the initial boot cycle - this will prompt the laptop to access the recovery partition on the hard drive.
