Question about RCA DRC8295 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo
I have seen this happen too many times. Your DVD recorder's lens/laser is dead. You should get the lens/laser assembly repllaced to resolve this problem.

This happens because the rewritable disk is either worn out - try a new one - or that the disk must be formatted before use- you already have something on it that is corrupted .
BTW it's highly advised to use DVD-R disks in this unit.
But it may also be a very dirty laser lens - have you tried cleaning it?
