Question about RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310 Smartphone

1 Answer

Hello, I was updating my blackberry curve 8310 on my computer/online, but had to disconnect before it was complete. Since then, it wont turn on...there is an hourglass rotating on a white screen which continues for a few minutes then stops (as though its trying to reboot or continue to update itself). When it stops there is a white scree with very small font that say's "App Error 205( or 285...cant read it, its so small, reset. I have taken out the battery and tried rebooting my computer with the Blackberry connected and not connected to it. Tried re-updating it and ...nothing. Can you help me?

Hi. Sorry to hear about that but software restore will not work since the phone can no longer communicate with your computer. You need to flash your unit using special tools and cable that costs a lot if you want to do it yourself. Most service center can flash a dead phone and it is advisable that you bring your cellphone to a service center.

Phone cannot be controlled at all, and the display is a little hour glass just spinning in the middle of the screen. It goes on and off at will, and no buttons work.

It sounds like you have virus on the phone and in this case you will have to take it to a dealer so that they can help you there with the phone as they need to reformat and re install what the phone had on it from the Factory to get rid of that virus.a Reputed repair and servicing dealer will be able to help as they have the instruments needed to do the job.

My blackberry curve 8310 wont completly come on what is wrong? the hour glass stays on for min then phone keeps shutting on and off by it self!

If you are doing an update to the software in it, they behave this way...

Check the battery. A defective charger will let it run down and get flakey. The battery may be bad.

I have BB curve 8310 and it wont turn on at all, battery is charged fully and it is also plugged in. The light is on red and it stays on for 30 seconds than will flash once and go back on for 30 seconds...

First, download and install the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager software from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=DA5FB46338C8C0DCB1039F7898184FC5

Once installed, connect your BlackBerry to your computer via the USB sync cable. Open Desktop Manager, and click the Application Loader. On the right, you will see Update your device software. Click the Start Button, and if your BlackBerry is not on the latest Handheld Software, an update will appear. Select the update, and run the install. Be sure to select the option that backs up and restores your data. Once started, do not shut down your computer, or disconnect the USB sync cable as this could damage the device.

Once completed, your BlackBerry will restart and you will have the latest version available. This version has been known to correct various issues, such as this one.

If the issue is still present, then it could be hardware related, and may need to be repaired or replaced. I would then suggest contacting your Provider for Hardware Support.
