Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Flashing folder when i turn on mac

Your hard drive may have crashed or it's settings have changed so it is no longer recognized as a startup (boot) drive. Try starting from your original operating system CD. (or borrow one). Press the C button at power up to force your computer to start from the CD.
Once started, don't install the operating system. Go to the pull down menu's and select Disk Utility. If Disk Utility sees your hard drive, select it and run the repair disk program. If it doesn't see it, your hard drive has likely crashed. You will have to replace it, install a new copy of the operating system, and likely have lost all your data and documents. This is where I would start.

I have some photo cd's and don't know how to download them to a file on my PC. Can you help me?

insert the CD to your dvd-Rom then open windows explorer. Go to the DVD-RW drive to your CD folder, then crop or extract every *.jpg extension to your drive C. You can customize or create a folder to which you are going to save the photos from your CD.

Im about to restore muy computer to factory setings and i want to make a cd so idont lose all my pictures

You can use copy and paste, copying all of the picture files and pasting them to your drive in the computer located in the start menu, or you can use windows back up utility. i just put a cd or dvd in, then open the computer in start menu and then open up to where your picture file is located copy it, and go to the computer find the dvd drive or any drive you want to use to store the pictures and information, then right click, and paste, it will save all your stuff, you can then open it up to check before you restore. Once you restore you can then just paste it back the same way.

How do I download my documents to a cd? I have it on the screen and it says '' files ready to be written to the cd''. What do I do next?

I'll Tell You a Easy way of writing files into a CD.
First Delete all the Files there that say "Files ready to be written on a CD" by just selecting them all or one by one and delete them.
Now First insert a CD into the CD writer.
Now fo to the Location where you have you files store, select the ones you want to write and click edit on the top and click copy.
Now go into the CD driver and right click any where and click paste.
Now it would say the same thing there like it said before " Files.....".
On the left side of your sceen their would be an option saying "write these files in to a CD", Click that.
IT would give you a wizard for writting the files onto a CD follow that and the files would be copied to a CD.

The HD on my Toshiba A135-S4827 crashed. I bought

I see a couple of possibilities here.
  1. The replacement drive is not the same size as the original and the wizard is looking for a drive that size.
  2. There is also a possibility that the error is causes by bad RAM (0A-0543-0000 is a read write error) if you have more than one RAM module try the wizard with one module at a time, see if error is isolated to one or the other module or slot
  3. The Restore CD is dirty/scratched of has a flaw in the original write
  4. The optical drive is defective or dirty
So things you can try:
  1. Clean the media you are trying to restore from.
  2. Clean the optical drive with a drive cleaning CD.
  3. Swap Ram as suggested, replace defective if necessary (OS install is about most RAM intensive process you run on a system)
  4. Try a manual Windows install from a Windows CD not a image restore cd
  5. Try a drive the same size as the original

How do you transfer data from this external hard drive to a new internal hard drive that was just installed

Hello,

Turn your computer on. Plug the external drive. It should show in My computer window. Explore the external drive (by clicking on its icon in My computer). Point and select all you want to copy (CTRL A selects All) CTRL C. ( all that is selected will be marked for copying). Go to folder where you want to copy the files. Open the folder and CTRL V.

Hope it helps

What do you have to do to load the CD's from Chic-Fil-A

Most cd's like you described should automatically start it's install program when you put it into the cd drive. If not, here is the next steps:

1) With the CD still in the drive, Open Windows Explorer.
2) Click on "My Computer"
3) From this list, locate the CD or DVD player
4) Double click on the CD or DVD drive
5) Look for a file like Setup.exe. and double click on that.

That should get you going.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

Emachine W6409 will no longer turn on

Your hard drive is probably crashing or has crashed. You need to start your computer with an XP CD and try to use the repair function. You'll be able to tell if the hard drive is still working or not once you run the repair function. Let me know what happens or if you run into any problems.
