1. This is because some voice files are only basic but others speak the street names. To change the voice file press TOOLS, then press SETTINGS then press LANGUAGE. Press the VOICE and change it to a different one.
2. You can download extra voices, if you need to, by connecting your satnav to your computer, Download webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 and install it. When it's installed it'll look for software updates. After this it'll give you the option to download extra voices. Select the ones you want and press next. Follow the prompts and they will be downloaded to your satnav. When you have disconnected your satnav from the computer you can select a new voice as described in para 1 above.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How do make the gps announce the street name to

Neither the Nuvi 250W nor the Nuvi 205W have Text to Speech (which is the feature that allows the unit to speak the street names), so you cannot make yours speak street names. I'm sorry.

Doesn't name streets to turn on before the turn.

Go to https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/ and look up your specific GPS system, some do not name the street by name, some (like the nuvi 780) do.

My Garmin 760 does not speak street name on the turns. How to set dthis?

On your GPS device, Touch settings>Select language>Select Voice and select the TTS(Test To Speech) man or women to speak.
Make sure the volume is up, and the mute is off.
The pre-recorded voices(those with out a persons name) have a limited vocabulary and do not speak names of locations or streets.
hope it helps you out

Hi, my 760 had the same problem, and a stutter when speaking street names. I fixed both by upgrading the software to v4.60 using the Garmin Webupdater.

When you choose a voice from the menu, only the ones marked TTS (text-to-speech) will tell you the street names. The others just say turn right in .. miles.
