First take off the cover on the left side oif the top cover, then turn it over, remove the screw holding the red lock and pull the cap and brush roll out, remove the cap, remove the cogged belt, then you can put the new pump belt thru that slot, put over the pulley on the pump and then stretch it to go over the motor shaft. Then put back together.

Beater bar won't go round

Sounds like the belt drive has gone. Depending on the make/manufacturer these are easily replaced. You can often get belts that will fit from ebay if it's a common model. Also check the stuff you had with it when new. Many makes supply a spare belt/ Sometimes the belt is just very stretched, and although you might be able to see it, there may not be enough tension in it to drive the beater bar.

No power to brushes no result when brush switch activated

If you hear the brush moter running then the belt driving the roller has probably broken. It can be easily replaced by removing the brush plate underneath and pulling the roller out. Replacement belts are available on-line or may be available in hardware stores.Fit the new belt over the steel motor spindle first, then place the belt over the roller and insert the roller.
The belt will break if the roller gets jammed, so buy 2 belts and keep one as a spare.

My vacuum cleaner brush stopped rotating. Just before it stopped, I smelled some burnt smell. Any idea?

Hi there,
Almost certainly you have broken the drive belt. THese machines have a rubber belt that is designed to snap if you get the roller brush stuck on something. The most common reason for this to occur is that you **** up the end of a rug, the curtain or a sock. This will stop the roller but the drive shaft will continue to spin which chews through the rubber belt.
What you will need to do is buy a new belt and fit it on.
Hope this is helpful for you. If it is please take a moment to give me a rating. If you are in Australia and need somewhere to get you miele belt from try nelsonvacuums or VacuumSpot.

I have a dyson root cyclone. i dismantled it to replace the belt, it is not the belt which is on the roller brush, it is the belt which is from the motor, it was easy to take out as it was broken, i will...

The belt that fits on the motor is the same belt that drives the roller brush, all you need do to gain access is remove the sole plate, normally attached with 3 quarter turn connectors, use large flat screwdriver to turn them

The brush will not turn. It makes a grinding

It might be that the drive belt is stretched, broken or worn. It can cause the brush to not turn and it will make funny noises. I would try changing the belt. You can get a replacement here:

Trying to fix new belt to Hoover Turbo Power vacuum cleaner. Don't see how the belt becomes taut. Fitting it around the roller, there is nowhere to fit the belt to, it just sits loose.

I looked at the user instructions guide online and saw where the 'other end' of the belt should be fitted. It was extremely hard to fit but eventually managed it. Thanks for this solution site. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

Brush bar on my dyson dc07 will not turn.

Hi.

Your Dc07 may have A clutch unit.
Check that when you pull back handle to vacuum that the clutch control knob which is located front lower left side of machine moves to drive position & is not stuck in off or park position.
Rotate it to drive if its at off or park when you have lowered handle.

If adter checking this you still have no brush rotation you will need to remove clutch unit to either replace thr belts or fit new clutch.
Try this site for further help http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/

If you dont have the clutch arangement then just turn the three plastic screws on the sole plate ( Under front of machine) to unlock pull off sole plate & fit new belt to brush roller.

Easy job to do.

Belt

Hi.

If its not all floors machine just turn the three plastic screws under the machine to unlock .
lift off sole plate remove brush roller fit new belt over brush roller then stretch belt over motor drive shaft.
Replace sole plate turn 3 screws to lock position & thats it.

If your machine has a clutch unit & is all floors type this is more harder to do & will need a lot of explaining so try this site for Dyson Service Manuals.
