Unfortunately only Bose can repair certain units that they make. I suggest that you contact Bose for the repair of this unit.
But Norbern Electronics in Colorado Springs CO. has a flat rate repair.
You can contact them at this link as well.

If you need any further help please reply to this post.
I hope that this helps you with this issue.
Thanks for using Fixya.

Bose Companion 3 Speakers make a popping noise.

No solution i'm afraid. But i have the exact same problem. Terrible cracking interference. Unplug everything else in the house and they still crackle. Very annoying. Decided to buy a new woofer on ebay as that seemed to be the problem with possible faulty switch, but the new woofer has a different connection for the volume control. Incredibly frustrating. If you have any luck let me know. Bose want eighty quid to repair...

Bose speaker service

If the speakers are making a crackling noise at high volume yes, you need to take them in for service. The main problem that I have found to cause this issue is faulty instillation from the factory or using the system at a high volume with music. If it were me, I would send them in to Bose. They are a great company and will work with you to fix the issue.

I repair these fro a local store. The best best is to visit and enter your dock serial number to access the diagnostic and check videos for your particular dock. The volume control problem can be due to several faults. The most likely is the docking board. Invebo sell kits on a buy and try basis. First have a look at the diagnostic videos. You may be able to get it going yourself.

Slow decline in volume

I'm a bit of a bose LS 30 expert myself, very closely involved with bose lifestayle reanges professionally for many years.
thers a problem on the amp module on the back of the bassbox or a problem with the CD 20 volume output being reduced over time or lastly and quite simply the remote is fualty.

in each case the problem is easy to track down.
1st. take batteries out of remote ( and any other bose remotes that may control the cd 20, ) if the problem goes, get a new remote, impossible to fix unless its obvious mechanical damege to remote.

2nd get a loaner from somebody else or the shop of either cd 20 or bassbox, ( it doesnt really matter for the purpose of the test which nor which bassbox you try, it dosent have to be perfectly acoustically matched to see if the sound is dropping., once the cables match up. ) this will eliminate the possible probelm in either remaing unit.

as far as repair is concerned. you could have a go if you wanted to mess around witha lot of baord level electronics, but once youve identified the cause of the problem i suggest get a bose authorised repair or buy a spare one second hand. ( you'll only need the faulty part complet and in tact)

whatever you do.......... don't open the bassbox, as its a few years old the chances are you'll not be able to seal it back up properly in a way that will rerproduce the same quality of sound. and even if the bassbox is not at fault you'll probably have to suffer an ugly looking repair or a new bassbox that isnt necessary.
if on the other hand if you are determined to open the bassbox, let me know and i will help you do it properly but the chances are there is nothing there causing the volume to fall, that can be repaired without building a complete replacement and lots of visits to radioshack or your local electronics shop, and i would be extremely amazed if the problem is in the bassbox.

i would bet you have a faulty remote or at worst a control voltage problem in the CD20 unit.

I had my older bose 321 hooked up through vcr and sounded great. Then hooked it up through directv receiver and sounded better. then switched from direct to comcast and hooked the bose up throught the comcast hd receiver and the volume is aweful. same deal, have to crank it up high. Since the stereo built into the tv sounds so much better I disconnected the bose and am going to sell it.

Bose AWR1-1W soundless

get bose to make a warranty replacement or repair, its not a user servicable part, infcat its going to be difficult to find the exact problem even if you REALLY want to open it up, it may also be a faulty opamp on IC not switching.
