The number one reason for your issue would be a faulty stuck door switch. Does the black lever retract out when the door is opened, and can you press it in and hear a click when pushed in or released out? Best to have the door switch checked. Door switch part# 340617.

Dryer want start up

There are several reasons why this may occur:
1. Open the dryer door and look for either a small lever at the top of the hole which through which you put your clothes or a small hole with a lever inside that can be moved with a pencil or screwdriver.
If you see a small lever near the top, push the lever in and see if you hear a slight "click". If you do, set the timer to dry, push the start button WHILE PUSHING THE LEVER IN. If the dryer starts, the metal lever you are holding may have gotten bent inward. Let the lever go and bend it a little further out. Then insure that the door makes contact with the lever as it closes and pushed the lever in enough to hear that click. Close door and try to start dryer again.
The same procedure will be used for the other type of switch. If there is a hole, use a screw driver to insert in the hole and push the lever to hear a click. Opposite the hole on the inside of the door should be a tab, or a finger type object that, when the door is closed, will insert itself in the door and push the lever. If this finger is missing or broken, it must be replaced. If the finger is there, stick the screwdriver into the lever and try to start the dryer. If it works, insure the finger is aligned to enter the hole properly.
If the dryer does not start with any of these tests, you may have a bad door switch, which we were testing. We will need to check:
1. That you have power to the unit. 2. That the dryer cord and terminal are ok and in working order. 3. If the thermal fuse is ok. 4. If your timer is working properly.
To troubleshoot further, I'm going to need the make and model number. The make (Kenmore, Crosley, Whirpool, GE) should be on the console. The model number may be on the inside of the door or on the back of the unit.
I look forward to assisting you further.

My dryer does not heat up. I need to take panel off in order to replace. How do i do that?

need model number,if filter is on top, pull it out and take out two screws.get staight blade screw driver and put it in seam between the top of dryer and the cabinet and pop up on left and right side,{there are two clips holding the top on,one on the right the other on left side}, unplug door switch wires on right side and you'll see two 5/16 screws one on left and other on right around 4 inches down from the door switch, now grab top of front panel and pull up,there are two clips on bottom of cabinet that panel clips into, you'll see the fuse on the top of blower wheel housing, the fuse could also be located in the back of dryer too that's why you should send model number, hope this helps, while your in the dryer see if it needs to be cleaned out, that's what usually pops the fuse, check the lint filter duct, vac the inside of dryer and blow out the vent line, make sure the flapper is blowing open outside

My kenmore dryer won't spin or tumble. The motor runs but no tumbling. I heard a loud bang but didn't know what happened. çould it be the belt?

If the drive motor is still running, the loud bang you heard was either the belt breaking, or slipping off the idler pulley. I will need a model number in order to give you spcific details on how to open the appliance in order to inspect and replace your belt. If you need assistance on how to properly route the dryer belt on to the drive motor shaft and idler pulley, repairclinic.com has dryer belt diagrams listed under their "Special Features" section. Just click on the "Repair Help" link at the top of their web page, to start. You will need either diagrams H, B or K. Its hard to determine which diagram without your model number. Post back with your information and let me know.

Belt replacement

based on your model number, pick up the correct belt, order online if needed. always first unplug the dryer, remembering once you open the dryer there are sharp edges!
then on the top pull the lint filter out. under the lint filter are two to three screws take them out
now the top will snap off the clips in the front, you may need a putty knife to release them. flip the top up from the front to the back.
on the inside are two screws one on each side the hold the front panel on the top, clips hold the bottom on, set the front panel to the side. if the belt is still in one piece and not broken look at how it rides around the idler wheel to the motor. remove the dryer cylinder and vaccuum out as needed. replace belt.
rebuild dryer in reverse. and let me know if you have questions.
