Hi.

The blinking lights mean that a problem has occurred. First troubleshooting is done powercycling the printer:

Step one: Manually move the carriage

  1. Press Power to turn off the printer.
  2. Look inside the printer for obstructions along the cartridge carriage path, such as lint, paper pieces or foreign objects. Remove any obstructions. Open the cartridge access door and observe the print cartridge and carriage. WARNING: If the carriage is stuck in the home position (all the way to the right side of the printer), do not attempt to manually move the print carriage from the home position. Attempting to slide the carriage while it is in the home position can damage the printer. Proceed to the Step two: Check the paper path section below.
  3. If the carriage is not in the home position, move the print cartridge carriage towards the left side.
  4. Look inside the printer for obstructions along the cartridge carriage path, such as lint, paper pieces or foreign objects. Remove any obstructions.
  5. Move the print cartridge carriage towards the right side of the printer.
  6. Look inside the printer for obstructions along the cartridge carriage path, such as lint, paper pieces or foreign objects. Remove any obstructions.
  7. Check that the carriage assembly moves left and right freely.
  8. Turn the printer on. Be patient, this might take a few moments. You might need to clear the print queue and resend the print job.

Step two: Check the paper path

  1. Disconnect the power from the printer by unplugging the power cable from the back of the printer.
  2. Disconnect the power adaptor cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Look inside the printer for obstructions along the cartridge carriage path, such as lint, paper pieces or foreign objects. Remove any obstructions.
  4. Remove the rear access door and look inside the printer for obstructions along the paper path, such as lint, paper pieces or foreign objects. Remove any obstructions.
  5. Reattach the power cable to the printer and connect the power adaptor cord to the wall outlet.
  6. Turn the printer back on. The carriage assembly should return to the right side and reseat itself on the home position.

Step three: Service the product

If you have completed all of the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service your product.

Orange light blinking, cleared paper jam, changed printer cartridge, won't print subsequent documents.

Double check all doors/ rollers for small pieces of paper stuck in the rollers. Sometimes just opening the door in question and closing will reset the paper jam sensors. Paper jams can be smaller than your pinky finger nail. So double check,

Comment if it still isn't working.

  1. First count the number of times the light on the front of your printer flashes.
  2. Then refer to the table below for information about the error condition and recommended recovery procedures.

Number of Flashes Error Condition Error Recovery 2 Carrier Stall:
The movement of the print cartridge carrier has been obstructed. Remove any objects blocking the carrier path.
    4 Print Incomplete:
The print cartridge carrier stopped in the middle of a print job due to obstruction. Remove any objects blocking the carrier path.
    12 Cartridge Short:
The printer has detected a short circuit in a cartridge.
    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. Open the front cover.
    3. Turn the printer back on.

    5. Close the cover. If there are no flashing lights, the color cartridge is short-circuited.

    8. If you continue to receive an error indicated by flashing lights, both cartridges are short-circuited.

Document is not printing

Press the feed button. If that doesn't work, turn the printer off, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on again.

TLP2844 won't print

Hi David,

Default the printer so you have a green light.
Print a configuration label so you have the printer's settings.

Check the document you are trying to print.
If your "normal document" is using PCL, it won't print because you aren't speaking the printer's language.
Make sure you are using a Zebra driver and that the label/media settings match your printer. Look at your direct thermal/thermal transfer setting and your media length setting -- especially continuous vs. non-continuous.

Ink cartridge problems

exchanged the black cartridge (57): the printer told me there was a problem with it, that I should remove it and re-insert it. I did, the ink button still blicks. After several efforts the printer started to work again, printed one document and then told me there was a problem with the colour cartridge. I removed it, re-inserted it several times. Finally a test page was printed - everything was okay.

Then the printer refused to print anything - the yellow LED lamp blicks continuously. Have turned the printer on and off, have also shut down the computer and re-started.

The only thing that will work now is the black cartridge, if I remove the colour one.

Open t cover, behind t catrage u will find a steel rod. Clean t rod with cotton but make sure t cotton or any thing dosn't touch plastic strip which is behind that rod. After cleaning t rod take a cotton bud dipped in machine oil and grease t rod. then close t cover and let t catrage move.

If u have given print command cancle it and restart ur pc. Your printer will work properly. This problem will come again so make sure u keep t rod clean ( clean it once a week or accordind to ur use).

It occurs due to t carbon.

Flashing resume light also can mean:

1. cartridge is missing or an incorrect print cartridge is installed
2. cartridge is out of ink
3. dirty cartridge contacts
4. paper jammed

Check are cartridges firmly snapped into place and not empty. Use water to wash copper on cartridges if contacts are dirty.

Epson has an interactive troubleshooting guide on their support site. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportIndex.jsp From the link above, choose your model printer. You will then be brought to the main page of your printer. Then, click on the "interactive help program" link under the Troubleshooting Guide section. Through this, you will be able to find an article describing what all the indicator lights mean and how to possibly resolve the issues.
