It's never going to recognize a product that is not original even if it's refilled in the Dell cartridge. That's happened to me--you get used to it. Dell just wants you to get it from THEM and not from any where else. I have a 922 All-in-One....It's been good for the past 3 years.

Regarding your HP Officjet Pro 8600 printer and refilled HP 950/951 ink cartridges and the "low ink" messages. Depending on your ink refiller (or if you did it yourself?), a replacement chip may or may not have been installed with the recently refilled cartridge(s). Refer to picture on our support site to first determine which type of cartridge configuration you have, then refer to the applicable section to address the current cartridge error(s) or printer issues. http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1999
NOTE: Costco USA's Ink Refill service now 'chips' all refilled ink cartridges which fully restores all functions to that of a regular HP (OEM) ink cartridge and customer experience. For USA ink refill store locations and details on ink refill pricing:
Refer to Section A if your refiller attached a new replacement chip (green in color) onto the cartridge. Refer to Section B if only the original HP chip is attached.
CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from China) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and/or permanent PRINTHEAD failures (due to incompatible ink formulations). We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested! HP original/genuine ink cartridges can be identified by the visible HP logo on the front label of the cartridge.
This model printer may only let you use genuine printer cartridges. If you try to refill these ink cartridges it
will not work because the cartridges have an embedded chip in the
cartridge that detects the empty cartridge even though it has been refilled.
This means you need to purchase and install genuine printer
the most important is to remove all the air from the cartridge that has left inside durring refilling that is why professionals are using special machines that refill in 0 air πρεσυρε using vaccum pump
you can check here a video on how to refill with out any special equipment
Refilling cartridges on _quality_ printers is not a wise solution. The makers of printers like Hewlett Packard spend thousands of dollars to formulate an ink to match the print head and printer. Then you buy a cheapo version of non-descript ink and refill their cartridge to save money and complain about the result. Buy a new HP cartridge, clean the nozzles, print a test sheet and post the results please.
