Hello, The drain behind the back panel in the freezer is frozen or blocked up. Remove the back panel remove as much ice as possible and pour boiling water in the bottom section under the evaporator. be careful not to touch the aluminum it will cut you or break. you will see the drain hole sometimes it takes a while to thaw all the ice. Hope this helps and please rate me Thank You.

There is an ice build-up underneath the humidity control drawers and the food in the drawers is freezing. It is a model RB 215 LABB. We have adjusted the temperatures of both the freezer and the fridge,...

The problem isn't the humidity control or temperature control. When the refrigerator automatically defrosts it goes through a cycle of heating and melting the ice build-up then drains this water to a tray at the bottom of the refrigerator (underneath). The drain tube that lets this water flow down to the bottom tray freezes so the ice begins to build inside the refrigerator section.

The solution to this is to defrost the tube so water can flow again. There are heating coils in the freezer section behind the plastic in the back that you must remove and defrost.

This is an inherent problem with a lot of refrigerator/freezers. You should probably have your refrigerator serviced and to check the heating capability of the coils to keep this tube from freezing. Otherwise put this on your monthly schedule of manually defrosting.

Ice build up on bottom freezer

Ice build up on the freezer floor alone, with no ice on shelves or food above the floor, usually indicates a clogged defrost drain problem. when your unit goes into defrost, the melt water is intended to go down a drain tube from the freezer to a pan on the outside bottom of the unit, usually near the compressor. Sometimes these drains are clogged with food debris, other times some of the melt water does not completely drain, and freezes - this build up of ice can then clog the drain. You can unplug the fridge, with both doors open and a fan blowing for 24 hours to temporarily remove the ice and water, but it will return most likely, in which case you would need to have the drain cleared out and / or have a drain heater installed by a qualified refrigerator repair service.

Water accumulates in freezer bottom and of course frezzes. if we don't break up and remove the ice, water will leak out the door. best guess on the model below. The back panel states "R134a"

134a is the type of freon used. There is a defrost drain hole at the very bottom of the freezer usally below the back panel. It has a tube that runs underneath behind the back bottom of freezer section. It can get stopped up with slugg that keeps the water from getting to the defrost water pan. The water in the tube freezes and the water then runs out the front of freezer being it has no exit. . hot water or a hair dryer gun. If you have means to blow hole out after ice is melted will do a better job. Blowing warm water down hole through tube with mouth will knock ice out quickly but be very careful. also this ewill remove any trash build up in drain hole.

WATER AND ICE INSIDE MY FRIG

Most likely whats happening is you have a frozen drain for the defrost cycle. here are step by step instrutions for repair
  • Unplug refrigerator
  • unload food from freezer
  • remove icemaker if present (there are 3 screws remove the one on the bottom and loosen the 2 on top of icemaker then lift it off the 2 screws unplug from wiring harness)
  • remove 2 screws holding rear cover in place
  • move cover to the side or remove from unit altogether
  • defrost any and all ice from bottom of freezer and aluminum drain pan that is now exposed
  • flush drain hole that you will see once ice is cleared with warm water. (sometimes I use a large syringe or turkey baster to forcefully flush hot water thru the drain tube)
  • reassemble in reverse order

These are general instrutions for most top freezer refrigs. but if you need more specific directions dont hesitate to ask Thanks Peyton

Water freezing on the tray section under the freezer drawer.

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over

Drain plugged in freezer

First of all, is it ice or frost? If it is ice, I would say you have a leaky water valve to icemaker, running down evap. coils. Replace water valve. If you have frost-find out why it is not defrosting(defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer.

Freezer, water problem

you have a frozen defrost drain, first of all defrost all of the ice out of the drain pan behind the grate, once the ice is gone you'll see a drain hole that goes thru the floor of the refrig. you need to flush some hot water thru this drain.

I use a big syringe filled with hot water to do this it will force any sludge build up out of the drain tube into the drain pan.

kind of an easy fix even if you aint 10=)
