About 6 months old and it washes fine but there is a "Poop" smell coming fround the ring at the top. I've chacked for Mold, Dead animals and all the other obvious things...Any ideas?

The smell is a musky, sour, foul smell similar to when clothes have been let in the washer to long on a hot day except there's no clothes in there and it doesn't go away whether we use powdered soap or liquid.

Ussually the soap residues stay in cavity areas tend to trap moisture creating good environment for bacteria then later breaks down giving foul smell. Running the washing machine with hot water only with a full load and add a quart of Clorox bleach so it can dissolve all residues in any possible cavities to get rid of the smell. On the ring areas where water can not reach, wipe down with Lysol. Cheers.

There are "smells" and "SMELLS". Typically an undesolved amount of soap can cause quite an unplesant odor which can be reduced by selecting a few hot washers in the week without clothes and soaps included. Eventually, the soap will deminish and the smell fade away.(Reduce the amout of soap to 1/2 of what you are using.) If that isnt the fact, then remove the top lid of the machine and back cover and inspect the contents.(Please pull out the plug when inspecting as you can still get a shock.).
On quite a few occasions, small rodents find their way into the machine and eventually electrocute themselves which in the end gives off this foul smell. Im certain it is one of the two scenarios..

After I dry my clothes, I smell this dead animal smell. Thought it might be a dead animal, but could it be the ring around the drum that is burnt? My clothes now dry smell stinky. We took it all apart...

thats the mold and mildew on the bellow that you are smelling. thoroughly clean the bellow. i also suggest that you purchase a tablet called affresh. this will help to remove that smell. if your machine does not have a self clean cycle then just put the tablet in and do a regular wash. if you machine has a clean cycle, just put tablet in and set on clean cycle. I also recommend that after each load you thoroughly wipe off the bellow and leave the door open for about 30 minutes so that machine can air out.

My Whirlpool Estate Top Load washing machine is less than a year old. The last few months it has begun to smell really bad between washings. I leave the lid up but that doesn't help. The clothes don't...

Chances are there is mold forming in the outer tub, put two cups of bleach in the tub, set the water level at highest setting and run it in heavy wash mode. Do not add any laundry, that should help kill the mold that is causing the smell.

Front-load steam washer smells like a stale sponge. How do you repair this? It is only a year old and was very expensive. The dryer works fine. Baking soad, vinegar, none of this helps. Thanks.

Front loaders are known for building up mold and the smell.
It’s caused by using liquid detergent which is made from animal fat. Use powder. And use the minimum amount.
It’s caused by using fabric softener. Dilute it 50/50 with water.
It’s caused by the water remaining in the tub between washes. Leave the door open to allow it to dry. .
Pull the rubber door seal back and clean the mold off .
Affresh is recommended by some manufacturers. You run it through a wash cycle with it.

09 sonata with 1000mils on it with a/c off foul smell comes from ventilation system with fan on. no problem when a/c is on

Does it smell like a dead animal? or just moldy mildew smell? If dead animal, get it out. If mold/mildew smell, treat it with an AC ventilation dodorizer.

Smell

One downfall of the front load machine that it holds moisture causing musty smell in drum. Try leaving door agar between washes and use a cleaner specific for front load smells 1 every month.

Mold & Smelly in Washer

Wash on hottest and longest cycle with regular laundry soap and a bottle of vinegar. After cycle, wash again with soap on hottest/longest cycle. This will clean your washer like new.
