I've noticed this problem on several models from all bread machine manufactures. The mixing has to be done in a circular motion and leaves an unmixed area in the corners. I've noticed that more and more of them recommend that you use a small spoon or a soft spatchula to move the unmixed portion to the center. The only way to avoid this is to design the mixing area in a bowl shape and that would make an unsightly loaf of bread. Maybe there will be a better solution in the future but for now this is it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Fluid Measure

One US gallon is 3785 ml, so you need that much water which is 3785 / 50 = 75.7 measures (tablespoons).

So 75.7 tablespoons flour and 75.7 x 50 ml water = 3785 ml.

If you mean imperial gallons the answer is different, 4546 ml water and 90.9 tablespoons flour.

I'm trying to make egg rolls but I'm not sure what to put in them? Please help

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 quart peanut oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 ounces shredded carrots
  • 8 (7 inch square) egg roll wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
Adjust Servings recipe yields 8 servings Directions
  1. Season pork with ginger and garlic powder and mix thoroughly. Heat mixture in a medium skillet, stirring, until pork is cooked through and no longer pink. Set aside.
  2. In another large skillet heat oil to about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) or medium high heat. While oil is heating, combine flour and water in a bowl until they form a paste. In a separate bowl combine the cabbage, carrots and reserved pork mixture. Mix all together.
  3. Lay out one egg roll skin with a corner pointed toward you. Place about a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the cabbage, carrot and pork mixture on egg roll paper and fold corner up over the mixture. Fold left and right corners toward the center and continue to roll. Brush a bit of the flour paste on the final corner to help seal the egg roll.
    1. Place egg rolls into heated oil and fry, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels or rack. Put on serving plate and top with sesame seeds if desired.

Dense, misshapen (maybe undercooked?) loaf!

A COMMON problem is to use regular flour instead of the "bread flour".

I stack the ingredients in a particular order for my Hitachi brand breadmaker. The liquid goes in on the bottom. Then the BREAD FLOUR ( high glutten), then other powdered ingredients EXCEPT the yeast... It goes on top so as to be exposed and activated the last thing during mixing... The flour I use is the "Better for Bread" brand. Using regular enriched flour usually results in a paperweight half as tall as it should be.

After initial mixing, the dough should be in a ball and not really sticking to the sides of the container.

Banana bread recipe for sunbeam 5895

I have made the following recipe in my West Bend machine with great results. I just got a Sunbeam 5895 at a garage sale - it works great - just wanted a different "shape" loaf! I'm going to use this recipe in my Sunbeam - don't see why it won't work!

Here's the recipe!
1/2 cup softened butter, cut into small pieces for good blending
1 cup mashed ripe banana (personal note: if my ripe bananas don't measure up to 1 cup, I add enough milk to make it 1 cup. Seems to be okay)
2 eggs, large, slightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Grease inside of pan and knead bar generously with vegetable shortening (I just spray with Pan Spray). All all ingredients in order listed above to pan. Lock pan into bread machine. Program for quick bread. After a few minutes of mixing, I usually take a rubber spatula and scrape down the sides and stir in any flour that has not been completely mixed. I didn't do this once and ended up with a loaf that had flour coated corners!

Good Luck! Enjoy!

Bread does not rise

  • Make sure it is good quality Strong White Flour (not plain flour)
  • The amount of water you use is very important. Use scales for accurate results - 1ML = 1G for water
  • Make sure the yeast is as per instructions regards type/quantity/quality.
  • Double check that you are running the correct program.
  • Always put the yeast in first, as you dont want the water in contact with water
Having failed that I would return the machine

Collapsed bread

Likely, your loaf is too wet.
This can happen with as little as 1 Tablespoon too much liquid. It's hard to describe "the look," but what I learned to do was to watch the bread during the initial mixing cycle (after the paddle begins to turn full circles). The dough should not stick to the side of the pan while mixing, and it should look elastic, but not shiny. If it looks shiny, there's too much liquid in relationship to flour. I add a tablespoon of flour at a time during the mixing cycle, until I get a good consistency.
There's nothing wrong with the taste of the sunken loaves. We usually just shrug and eat them anyway.

Look at the box first. Many times it will have instructions on it. However sometimes it may not and have only the the dry ingredients. If the box has no instructions, see how many cups of flour the mix uses. If it uses 3 cups of flour total, the mix is for a 1 1/2 pound loaf. If the mix uses 2 cups of flour it will make a 1 pound loaf. Box missing this info? It's time to take the flour out of the box to measure it with at measuring cup. Mixes sometimes combine all the ingredients together so it will measure bit more than 3 cups for a 1 1/2 pound loaf or 2 cups for 1 pound loaf. After finding out how big the loaf is going to be then get the bread pan and instruction manual and start constructing the dough. I'd find the recipe in the manual that matches the mix the best to find out how much liquid to use. (for a classic whit its 1 cup for 1 1/2 pound leaf and 3/4 cup for 1 pound loaf) Then I put the liquid in the pan first along with butter (if necessary), followed by the dry ingredients in the mix with the yeast at the top. Put the pan into the bread machine and select 1 or 1 1/2 loaf or if it is a french or sweet bread. Press start. Unfortunately I have a different machine than you do, but I think this will help.
