No sounds comes out of my door speakers when using my JVC KD-R301. I have a subwoofer hooked up to this head unit too, hooked up to the low output and this is working fine. I have disconnected the headunit, and plug in my ipod straight into the wiring block using a stripped ipod cable and all of my speakers are working just fine. However nothing comes out of them when they are plugged into the head unit. But the subwoofer is working so it must not be sending anything to the high outputs. I have tried changing the fader and balance but this has no effect.

You may have a bad output ic inside the head unit. if this is the case, it needs to be replaced.

I have a jvc KD-G320 deck and need help hooking up subs...

Hello c92bivens,

While your KD-G320 does not have a specific subwoofer output, Kenwood did make provisions for adding one. There are two stereo pairs of line outputs on the back, one each for front and back. On the set for the rear, you can select a "line output mode" of "REAR" for normal speakers, or "WOOFER" for operating a sub.

Page 14 of your owners manual details the setting procedure while page 31 shows the connections. The manual incorrectly refers to the FRONT line outputs on page 14. Use the REAR line outs instead. If you do not have a manual, you can download the PDF version here at Crutchfields's web site. Ignore the "DISCONTINUED" notice (it's an old head unit), and scroll down the left just under "What's in the box" and click the "download owners manual" link.

Hope this helps. If it does, please rate as "FixYa".

Subwoofer.......

Please check your model number, I can not find it on the JVC service website.

This is a powered sub-woofer I think. You need to have a thick black cord that connects the sub to the head unit. Then the satellite speakers get connected to the speaker jacks on the sub-woofer box. The sub-woofer should also be plugged into an A/C outlet on the wall.

The speaker outputs are labeled right there where you connect the speaker wires. You should see a red and black connector for each speaker and they are labeled "front right" "front left" "center" "rear right" "rear left".

If you do not have the thick black cord you need to connect the head unit with the sub-woofer, you can not use this system.

If you look at the head unit and give me the model number on it, I may be able to find the part you need. But I must have a good model number to work with, preferably from the head unit.

How to connect a amp to a jvc kd-g331 head unit

The JVC-G331 should have an auxilary output on the Back (red & White) run two Stereo RCA cables from this output to the input on the amplifier, then you're ready to go! ;)

Oh yeah, make sure and run the RCA's on the opposite side of the car as the power wire (most likely 4ga) or else you could hear interference.

Have just installed (per instructions) a jvc car cd KD-G386/KD-G385 receiver in my caravan, nothing seems to operate, have reset it. and press "display"button-clock comes on for couple of seconds...

Hi colinelva.
I can probably help you but I need more info.
Lets start with the vehicle, What year ,? What specific model?, What type of head unit came out? Was it factory?
Did you use a wiring adapter, or just cut the plug off and hardwire it?. If so give me the color code of all the wires that you used in the dash. are their any left over but not hooked up? How many speakers? All Factory?

I don't need any info about the JVC Head unit.
Lets start with that, and we will take it from there.
Regards, Paul
