Hello,

what this indicated is that there has been a weakness on the element of your range .

The way out to solve this problem is to carefully unscrew the screws on the range then trace the wires down to the element it is silver in color carefully remove it from it position or Locate the element. It should be near where the electrical cord comes into the range.

The element is a small white bar or silver in nature with metal caps on either end. Carefully remove the element. Avoid touching the transformer or other parts inside the microwave.

Purchase a new element. Most range use an 15 to 18 amp ceramic element . Consult your owner's manual to find out what kind of fuse is used, or take the old fuse into the store to find the exact match.

thank you for using fixya.

replace the ignitor, even though trhe ignitor glows orange its getting weak and cant pas enough current to open the gas valve to supply enough gas to fire the venturi tube,so it supplies gas but wont ignite this is where your odor is coming from

It won't heat up... even though there is a flame

Check The Power Source

If the gas oven won't turn on, the first thing to do is check the power source. Most modern gas ovens are electrically powered. Check to make sure the oven is plugged in and the breaker isn't tripped.

Check the Heat Source

When a gas oven won't heat, the pilot light can also be set too low; if the pilot is lit but the oven isn't catching, adjust the flame.

Newer gas ovens use electric ignitors that produce sparks. If the oven doesn't heat, the ignitor could be broken.

OVEN WONT WORK

Even though the igniter is red, if you are not getting gas it is almost 100% sure that the igniter is simply not getting hot enough. A new igniter should get that valve to open and you will be baking like crazy.

Oven makes a clicking sound after it has been baking for 2-3 hours.

Dear Robbird:
You need to give more detail---- brand. model, age, gas or electric, speed or repetitiveness of the sound; is it a click or a tick sound ? I will assume it is gas. Is the sound the same as when you start a top burner and you hear the tick as it is lighting? Or, is it a click the is slower and you hear it from somewhere inside the oven ? It could be the metal body expanding as the outer parts of the oven get hotter with long hour usage. I n the is case, there is nothing to do or to worry about. Does the sound stop when you turn off the oven or does it continue for a while. Naybe you can resubmit with better info to get a more precise diagnosis. Wait to hear from you, Macgivor.

The electric spark lights the gas at the spark area but the rest of the oven flame never materializes and the spark continues to click even though the initial flame is there

Make sure the thermocouple from the gas valve is in the pilot flame. If it is and you have no ignition, replace the gas valve. The clicking stops once the oven ignites.

Oven lights, but temp does not get above 100

The gas burner is broken. There is an upper burner and a lower burner. In-order for both burners to turn on, both must be working to let the gas turn on. If one burner element is out the oven wont get hot just warm.
