Sim contacts may be dirty, either on the card or phone.
remove sim card and GENTLY rub a pencil eraser on the contacts to clean, then test. If you can access the contacts on the phone, do likewise. If not, then you'll have to use an Ether based cleaner, Like electrical parts spray ( available from your local auto parts store) .
be careful not to spray too much into the phone, as once the spray gets inside it takes longer to evaporate. You can counter the time by using compressed air to speed drying of the phone interior without taking it apart.
Hope this helps!!
what i suggest for you to do is insert the sim card into your old phone and transfer all the contacts into the sim card. after that insert the sim card into your new phone and find the option wher eyou can copy the contacts in the sim into your phone.
if that does not work then that means the sim card cannot store contacts.
another option is to place the sim card in your old mobile and write down all the numbers that you NEED on paper and then later type it all down on the new phone.
You are trying to use a SIM from another Network or Handset but your phone is LOCKED to your old network and/or to a specific SIM card and number: this is why it is asking you for the unlock code to remove the restriction. It you are no longer under contract or obligations (such as minimum total recharge amounts for apre-paid handsets), then you could try to request the unlock code from the original service provider of your handset. As for asking to insert SIM card, make sure that the SIM is correctly and securely inserted in your handset SIM holder. Also check that the SIM is still functional by inserting it in another handset: SIM card can be permanently and physically disabled if you attempt to enter too many consecutive invalid codes (usually around 10). Hope it helps and good luck!
IF U ARE USING THE SAME CARRIER AS BEFORE (ATT FOR EXAMPLE) IT WONT NEED UNLOCKED. IF U WERE GIVEN A NEW SIM CARD FROM UR CARRIER WHEN THE NEW PHONE WAS BOUGHT, THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO USE THE SIM CARD. THE CARRIER ATTACHES THE SIM CARD NUMBER TO UR ACCOUNT. YOUR OLD ONE CAN BE USED ONLY TO ACCESS YOUR CONTACTS, BUT NOT TO MAKE CALLS.YOU CAN HOWEVER PUT THE OLD SIM CARD IN UR NEW PHONE FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF TRANSFERRING UR CONTACTS, THEN REPLACE YOUR NEW SIM CARD INTO UR NEW PHONE
