Edo33 isn't completely correct, don't listen to him.

D400A has an D845GVSR motherboard, check intel's website for specs. You are basically limited to a pentium 4 or lower, socket 478, and up to a 533Mhz bus, anything higher and your motherboard cannot take it.

Memory is limited to 184pin DDR266 SDRAM, any higher and your motherboard cannot take it.

Finally think about upgrading the power supply, replace the CDR drive with a CDRW drive, and, you really shouldn't but... a PCI graphics card for video.

Cheers,

This computer has DDR SDRAM
The processor is an Intel pentium 4
In some cases quoted as a socket 478 so a compatibe processor should work

Your best bet is to add more RAM. You need more than 512mb for video encoding and recording. The more the better! A really good site for finding out what you need is www.crucial.com

Pc upgrade

Hi ****, you can increase you system speed slightly (Depending on the total memory speed of the card), by adding an AGP 4x video card & setting your bios to boot to AGP. See page 2-16 in your manual. Change, Init Display First to [AGP]. Doing this will disable the onboard - integrated video card. (Doing this will also free your system memory which is used to run the onboard graphics card). Increasing your system memory to its max of 2GB will help as well. Here is Crucial's memory link for your board. http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=P4GE-MX You should increase the CPU if at all possible to its max speed in-order to see an over-all increase of system performance. (This is not what you asked for, so I'll only include Asus link for supported CPU's, for the P4GE-MX motherboard). http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P4GE-MX Don't expect lighting speed but you will notice game playing speed much better. Programs should load much faster, ECT. Upgrading the AGP must comply with 4x/8x (+1.5volt only). Please see page 1-12 in your manual. Looking for XFX video card is best because it carries a lifetime warranty. Try this link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150210 You can continue to search for an XFX Geforce cards. (Best on the market for their lifetime warranty). Good luck ****! Though the AGP slot is faster than a PCI slot, you may find an XFX PCI card with more video memory on it. Some even run DDR3 & DDR3 memory. Mike

D400a reboots/restarts randomly

It it would seem to be overheating, so it could be the CPU fan that is faulty, or the CPU Thermostat. In either case it would need a visual inspection to be 100% certain.

Drivers for a Insignia d400a CPU

Sandrew, argh, are you kidding me?

Check intel's website, you have an intel D845GVSR motherboard. Here is a better web page!

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=1065&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go%21

You'll have to search around but all your drivers are in intel's website. Except for one, and thats your media reader, you'll have to use to one supplied on your recovery disk that came with the D400A.

Cheers,
