Did you remove the top panel and keyboard?
If so, remove them again and check the video cable from the LCD screen and connect it back to the motherboard, also check the cable from the keyboard to the motherboard. Make sure these cables/connectors are seated properlt.

Try the Memory mods, the CMOS battery. You have cleaned the fan and vents, right? May be a component failure, hard to say on a older machine. Hp pavillion dv4000 keeps shutting off

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

Hi my HP Pavillion ZV5000 fan runs loudly after a period of time and then shuts off. Probably due to over heating.i also already have cleaned the fans. Is there any solutions?

Pavillion laptop is not booting.

Try to boot the notebook with F8 Key. (Safe Mode)

Also try to go into the BIOS setting and change there --> Power and Boot Priority.

For BIOS try: ESC, DEL or F2 keys.

Hp Pavillion laptop

try unplugging your power supply it may be failing and causing te noise.

Alternately your fans may be coming on when the machine warms up causing the noise - listen close by the vents on the machine and you should be able to narrow down where the sound is coming from

No Display

First make sure everything else is getting power and operating okay, and that it is only the LCD display that is non-functional.

If you get no video signal or power at all, even at boot time, you probably have a dislodged ribbon cabling or power connection. Usually when LCD monitors go bad they show colour banding or all white, etc., but usually continue getting power.

As a last resort, try disassembling the lower case (with the power disconnected and the battery out of course) to expose the LCD monitor mounts, and then following the wiring from the screen into the laptop and check for anything loose or disconnected. You could also have a loose ribbon cable going into the LCD array, which will require disassembling the LCD cowling and mounts.

If you are handy and comfortable with electrics and find nothing loose, put the battery in and test the power line going to the LCD backlight, which should be getting above 7V (I think). Below that and you either have a bad video controller or bad wiring/solder joints somewhere. Otherwise, if the unit has been dropped or had a hard life generally, it could also be the connections between the LCD connector bus on the monitor array and the array itself. As a last resort, try unplugging and reconnecting all ribbon and connector cables, cleaning the exposed brass coloured runners lightly with rubbing acohol or even a pencil eraser.

Good luck...
