SOURCE: Scanner Failure

I had the same problem along with the problem of "remove and check color cartridge." Nothing worked until I completely disconnected the power to the K80, both from the wall and from the K80, and left it disconnected overnight. In the morning all worked great. The problem was gone.

Option one: Scan using Windows Fax and Scan
Click the Windows icon ( ), click Programs , and then click Windows Fax and Scan .
NOTE: The Windows Fax and Scan option is available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista. If you have the Home Basic or Home Premium edition of Windows Vista, skip to Option two:

Scan using Paint .

Click New scan .
Click File , and then click Scan .
Option two: Scan using Paint
Click the Windows icon ( ), click Programs , and then click Accessories .
Click Paint .
Click File , and then click From Scanner or Camera .
Click Scan .
The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the product.
THANKYOU BILL GATES AND HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: HP Officejet 6310 scans once but then says scanner failure

that error message is nothing to do with the software part, it actaully hardware issue try the following,

1) unplug the machine and connect it to wall outlet directly,
2) unplug the power cord from the printer and press and hold ON for 1 min and release the ON button and plug it back..
3) Disconnect the power cord from the product.Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons and if printer turns off, turn it back ON and wait until it cmopletes its instialization and if still persists, it a hardware failure...............

SOURCE: scanning with an Officejet J3680

Click Start , and then click Run .
In the Open text box, type msconfig , and then click OK .
In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor . tick the box.

If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list,
the driver was not correctly installed and You need to reinstall the software.

Open HP Solution Center with one of the following methods.
On the Windows desktop, double-click the HP Solution Center icon

On the taskbar, click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product.

Click Settings .
Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
Click Scan to... Setup .
Click the Destination List tab.

NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the
Front Panel Destination List to populate after you turn on the printer or computer.
If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations,
you need to reinstall the software.
If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure.
Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
Click the Add arrow.
Click OK .

Scan a document using the Scan To button on the front panel.
If the scan fails, try to scan using the HP Solution Center Scan button.
If the scan still fails, re-install the software.

Hope this helps

Need advice on how to resize images using the scanner on the hp officejet j3680, I want to take one image from scanned page and make it a certain sizem may last scanner was great and easy to use this one...

I believe you can only adjust it from within your destination scan program. In other words, scan first, open the scan in your editing program and adjust the size from there.

Un active the fax,scann,copy

This solution is for "older" R-series All-in-One's but it may be your solution as well. You may be experiencing a situation in AllN1's called "SCANNER SYSTEM FAILURE" where the scanner bulb may be weaker than it appears by naked sight and doesn't meet system power requirements to "pass" as good to go and thereby is passing to the printer a failure condition. In the R-Series AllN1's the ultimate solution was a bulb replacement. Which surprisingly is not as intimidating as it may sound if you might want to tackle the problem on a do it yourself basis. I can give you more details if you would like. I think you can respond to this Solution; I am new to this forum. If you can not respond directly my email address is
