Power Supply Dell Dimension E 510 - Have blinking amber light on front case power on button. Replaced power supplies twice with rebuilt units from dell. Replaced system battery also as advised by Dell tech support. Unit still does not turn on. Have steady green light on motherboard. Have ordered motherboard three times from Dell. All three times order has been cancelled by Dell with no notification or reason. I am at wits end dealing with Dell. Any suggestions? Karl

I have a Dell Dimension 5100 which worked fine up until 2 weeks ago. When I went to turn it on it wouldn't power-up & the power button was flashing orange constantly. I contacted Dell & was told my computer was out of warranty & that I would be $39 for a diagnostic fee. The troubleshooting determined it was my powersupply box & it would be $28 for a re-built box. I got very fast & installed it, but same problem. I contacted Dell agian & now they say the motherboard. I purchase a refurbished board for $125 & again it arrives fast. I take it to a professional & he calls 2 days later saying the recently shipped board is bad & looks as if it was never even touched to begin with & that the computer still won't boot/power up. I contact Dell again & now it's the input/output cable on the front panel which is $21. I am getting ready to take it down to the tech for installation to see if theis is the problem/ I doubt it would end here & i'll say this to u: DON'T BUY DELL PRODUCTS, EVER! They will run you around & the customer service reps barely speak english.

I have a Dell Dimension E521. When I cut the power on everything comes on including the monitor, but the monitor will stay black. It does say something about power save hit any button but the screen

A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.

A solid yellow light indicates the power supply is operating normally but the computer is not processing data.

This could mean there is a problem with the CPu or another component on the motherboard.

((A blinking yellow light indicates the power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly.
This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.))

A blinking green light means the computer is in standby mode.

You should consider visiting Dell Support and downloading the manual for your

your Dell computer. So use the LED power light codes if your Dell computer has them.

hope this helps

Dell dimension 8400 blinking amber light ethernet port

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Since you replaced the power supply, my guess is that the motherboard has a problem.
Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

I have a dell dimension 2400 with a blinking amber light what do i do

Hi,
The blinking amber light on the dimesion 2400 generally means that the power supply on the system has gone bad. Switch off the system and disconnect the power cord from the back of the system . Press and hold down the power button in the front for 10 seconds.
Reconnect the cable back and try powering on the system.

If the same ,fails you would have to take the system in for repairs

I turned on my Dell Dimension 4700 computer, but the amber light started to blink . I held the start up button for 5 seconds and the light went out. I tried to start it up again and got the same thing,...

Vaughn it sounds like the power supply is going bad, try another known good working power supply. If that doesn't work then the motherboard would need to be replaced. If the power supply isn't giving the correct voltages that could cause the computer not to turn on. If the motheboard isn't able to convert the voltages properly then the motherboard could be faulty.

Dell dimension 5150 blinking amber lights

I have similar problem these days. After normal shutting down the PC, it can not be powered up again, the amber light blinks. A temp solution for my case is by doing these steps:

1. leave all monitor, network, keyboard and mouse etc. connected
2. disconnect the power, wait until green light and amber light dim.
3. pop up the CMOS battery, then put back in (better to check its remaining voltage, if not good, change a new one)
4. power amber light flash shorter and lighter
5. disconnect any USB connections like keyboard and mouse,
6. immediately connect keyboard and mouse back into USB ports
7. my pc powers up at this point, all green lights shining. Except it displays CMOS setup warnings, give me options to click either F1 or F2
8. I click F1, it goes into normal login XP

The only problem is I could not shutdown PC again, if I do, then I have to repeat 1-8. I have to use "Standby" instead, which I usually do.

Blinking amber light with green 4 light

If the power light is blinking amber, the computer is receiving electrical power, but an internal power problem might exist.
Try, unplugging the power cable from the pc, and reinsert it, if this does not help try a differnt power outlet, if this dont help, open the computer, take the power Molex conector out of the mother board and try turning it on, if this dont help, take out the Memory modules and reseat them, if this dont work you may want to ring up dell support.

Hope this helps!

Hi,
To help you better , could you let me know , when the system goes into sleep mode, the power light in the front of the tower is it amber or blinking amber or is it of some other color.

If the power button is blinking amber , the power supply on the unit is going bad.
