I am not able to disable touchpad for my e6400 DELL laptop. The driver does not show disable option even in administrator mode. This is interfering during typing from keyboard as the cursor moves somewherelse and starts typing at unwanted locations.

there may be a tab Hardware or Device setting (in Vista). (it depends what OS you are using).

any way go to the last tab. you will find two devices. check properties. try disable one by one.

Wlan card disabled

The Dell Latitude E6400 laptop comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor for fast computing and an NVIDIA graphics card for video playback, gaming and Web browsing. The laptop has a built in Wi-Fi card, letting you connect to the Internet on-the-go. However, if you're unfamiliar with Dell or the laptop's factory installed Windows Vista operating system, you might not know how to enable to Wi-Fi.

Slide the switch on the side of the laptop toward the front of the laptop. This switch enables Wi-Fi connectivity on the Dell Latitude E6400. When switched into the back position, the Wi-Fi is turned off. Turn on your Dell Latitude E6400 laptop and log into Windows Vista. Click on the Windows "Start" button. Click on "Wireless," located in the Start menu's "Show" list. A list of currently broadcasting wireless networks appears on screen. With your Wi-Fi enabled, you can connect to any of these available networks. Secured networks ask you for a password when you click "Connect," while unsecured networks connect automatically.

Wondering pointer

Try downloading the Touchpad drivers, then you will have that option.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Dell Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.

You can disable the touchpad once you have the touchpad driver installed. Most times when it installs the touchpad will be at the bottom right near the time. you should also be able to get to it in the Control Panel.

I can not disable touchpad of INSPIRON 1545 of DELL Computers There is no option for disabling touch pad in the MOUSE option of Control Panel

Go to the Control Panel. Under the 'Hardware and Sound' options, click 'Mouse'immortal4u.png

Since you have a Dell laptop, you'll have a special tab called 'Dell touchpad' in the window that pops up. Click on the touchpad picture in the window.

In the new window that appears, click 'Device Select'

Click on the 'Disable' radio button to disable the touchpad completely. If you want to disable the touchpad of your Dell laptop only when an external device like a mouse is attached, check the last option that says 'Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present'

That's it. You've disabled your laptop's touchpad for good. If you don't find an option to manage your touchpad in Mouse settings, you have to install Synaptics drivers from here. Similar options can be found in other laptops as well.

Good luck ! if your problem is solved don't forget to rate

Mouse touchpad, keyboard, and usb drives will not work

One thing you can try (for the touchpad)

Acer have got a function key to turn it on and iff (i thought mine was broken for a year). Hold the function key, which is located bottom left of keyboard, and then press F7. It should be F7 anyway.

Hope that helps for your touchpad

Dell Laptop Trackball Too sensitive!

Go to control panel. Select mouse. In the window that opens, select the dell touchpad tab. Click where it tells you.

Then, on the bottom left of the next window that opens, select "pointing stick settings." Uncheck the "tap to click" and the TouchCheck "Enable" boxes.

That seemed to work for me. you can also disable the touchcheck on the touchpad.
