Press cursor-down to toggle the macro setting.
Press cursor-up to cycle through the flash modes.

The flash modes are described in the "Using the Flash" section of the Basic Guide (page 9 in my copy) and the macro mode in the "Shooting Close-ups (Macro)" section (page 10). If you need the manuals, you can download them from the manufacturer's web site at

What settings for macro on canon powershot

your problem is most likely your flash... I am sure you already know to push the button that looks like a flower to make sure you are in macro mode but your flash is burning out your shot.. turn off the flash by pressing the button that look like a little dragon tail and just use your ambient light and it should turn out better... a mini tripod will help as well

Just bought this lens and the MACRO button doesn't move. is there something I have to do in order to switch it?

You need to zoom past 200mm and then switch it to the macro setting. You will see a mark on the focus ring that you must put the ring past on coming out of macro

I can not change settings, for example, no flash to flash. When I go to take picture "Digital Macro" appears momentarrilly on display.

You're in the macro mode. Macro mode is for close-up shooting, and the flash is disabled in this mode.

Set the camera to the shooting mode (set the mode switch to the camera position). Press the FUNC/SET button. Use left/right to select a different mode and press FUNC/SET.

My vivitar vivicam x029 will not let me turn my flash on. It says no flash in macro setting? how do i turn it on

The flash is disabled in macro mode. There's a slide switch on the side of the camera, near the USB socket. Slide it away from the flower and toward the mountain to switch out of macro mode.

Shooting jewellery what settings macro, no flash + what

You've got an excellent camera, very capable of doing such. Would also recommend setting it to portrait mode, turning off the flash, selecting macro, and ensuring that you have plenty of good "diffuse" lighting. Most important of all, recommend using a tripod and taking the pictures using the camera's timer to activate the shutter. This will prevent camera shake as the shutter is activated allowing much sharper pictures.

Now, just in case, here's your camera's user manual as it also has great pointers for taking macro pictures.

Canon Macro Settings for 100mm lens and Sunpak 12R ring flash

Firstly, be sure to check flash voltage. Your 30D may accept max 6V so that your camera can be shot if the flash unit has higher voltage than 6V.
1. Use low ISO to keep low noise....around f/8 or more depends on your need and how much DOF you want.....Set the shutter speed around 1/125 to your max speed to stop any movement (your subject or camera itself shaking).
2. Above is set in Manual mode (iso100, f/8 1/125 or 1/250), then you just need to leave the flash to work in TTL mode.
3. It needs battery, the connection is for syncing to trigger and release a proper flash power (in TTL mode).
Hope this help!
