I forgot the pssword of my laptop

Need a external CD ROM...
1. Download and burn Ophcrack (freeware).
2. Burn ISO file to a disk.
3. Attach external CD ROM to S10 computer
4. Load the disk with the ISO file in the external CD ROM
5. Turn the S10 on and tap F12 a few times on the Lenovo Screen.
6. Select Boot using CD/DVD ROM
7. Wait for the program to completely load until it shows you a picture with your password on it.c57d3af.jpg

If this solution does not work,
1. Turn off your computer (no flashing lights)
2. Press the Lenovo Care Button (aka One Key Recovery, button with an upside down arrow on it)
3. Select System Recovery.
4. Recovery from factory default settings.

I have thinkpad T61 it was loaded with vista. It

what kind of media are you loading? is this a DVD or a program disc? If this is a DVD disc, try loading a music CD or other type of disc to see if it is recognized. If so, its possible your PC DVD is unable to recognize that specifc type of DVD. Try other DVD's which you know worked before using Vista. Even though your machine says the device is working properly, check the Lenovo website for updated drivers for the DVD and the board chipset. Let me know if updating the drivers does not work. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find out any more information from Lenovo.

I have lenovo y410 laptop with windows vista installed on it.i changed the os to windows xp ,everything is working fine but the MATSHITE DVD RAM UJ85js is not reading the content of the cd ,but this drive...

Can the "bad" CD-R be properly read on some other computer?
If not, then the disk itself is the problem.

Otherwise, changing from Vista to XP does _NOT_ produce the type of problems that you are reporting.

Not able to read dvd's and able to read cd's model lenovo 510i

While I was not able to find that specific model of laptop, I was able to locate the CDRW Bay and based on my research this bay only supports the following models. Though it may look the same and even have the same interface, if it is not in the supported model list, it will not properly function.

Supported Media Types:
  • CD-ROM
  • CD-R
  • CD-RW
  • DVD-ROM
Compatible with:
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad R50
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad R50e

  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad R51
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad R51e
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad R52
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T40
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T40p
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T41
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T41p
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T42
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T42p
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T43
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T43p
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T60
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T60p
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad X40 series (X series media slice or Ultrabase required)
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad X41 series (X series media slice or Ultrabase required)
  • IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T30, X30, X31, R40 series (2366, 2367, 2884, 2885, 2681, 2682, 2683, 2896, 2722, 2723, 2724, 2897, 2672, 2673 - when installed with the optional ThinkPad Slim Drive adapter for the UltraBay 2000 or X series UltraBase or Media Slice)

I want to detach matshita dvd drive from lenovo 3000 y500..

Before you've remove the dvd rom try to check also the connector cable of the dvd rom. Try to use another cable if you have. maybe the defect is the cable. Just try to use another cable.

My laptop doesnt think it has an optical drive! Do I need to set it up or anything or is it faulty?

Depending on what OS you have your computer will have a Icon on the desktop or in the start menu that is called computer or my computer. Try left clicking on that then going to properties/ device manager/ then look for dvd/cd rom drive. If it show a exclamtion point next to it chances are you just need to reinstall the drivers. If it doesn't show your device at all, that could be a problem.

I don't ever reccomend opening your computer unless you know how to properly hand one. So with that said, you could try to reinstall the drives for your device and if that doesn't work call the manufacture if still under warrenty. If not under warrenty, then call around your town and try to find the cheapest computer repair shop around. Be sure not to just go with the first one, shop around and compare prices, some are scandeless

Dvd combo not detect dvd's

Your Lense has some issue.
You can clean your lense with disk cleaner disk.
Pur chase it from nearest shop it is called "Lense cleaner disk"
then put it into combo drive then play it then it clean your lense then check .
If still not access your dvd then if it is in warrenty go to service shop they replaced it.
And if it is not in warrenty then you should need to repair your lense or purchase new lense.
Thanks

Cd/rom not working

rub1 hello,

It seems like a hardware problem with your cd/DVD drive.
I suggest trying to use Windows Update, perhaps there is a driver conflict.
Try to update the drivers on everything, and see if this works.
If not, try rolling back the driver for the drive.
If none of that works, enter the BIOS by pressing F1 when your computer starts (before Windows gets on).
There, check if DVD/CD drive is Enabled or Disabled.
If it is disabled, it might indicate a hardware failure. Then, if warranty is still applicable, I would suggest sending your laptop to a service provider near you.
