I have the same problem too but mine doesn't produce any heat at all. When it's switched on, the air that comes out of it is cool. How could i fix this? Do i have to replace a part or could it be an electrical fault?

Why t takes long time for oven to heat up?

Does the oven actually heat up with the temperature more than 100 or does it just stay at 100? Alternatively, when you open the oven can you see the orange glow of the flame through the vents in the bottom of the oven and hear the gas hissing?

The oven does not heat to the set temperature. It is usually much hotter

You can have the oven recalibrated by a professional OR you can purchase an oven thermometer and check the temperature yourself. Place the oven thermometer in the oven.Set the oven to a specific temperature. When it indicates it is at that temperature check the thermometer. Adjust your setting by that many degrees. For instance, if you set the temp at 350 and the oven thermometer shows 450, then reduce your temperature setting by 100 degrees each time you use the oven.

Tappan Oven #MEF500PBWD heating unevenly

Perhaps the item you are using to check temperatures is not accurate. I my line of work, I use a digital thermometer which records immediate temperature. Perhaps understanding the process will help you see more accuracy in the way you read the temperature in your oven. Allow me to offer this explanation....First of all, place your thermometer near on the top rack as close to the oven temperature probe as possible. This probe is the focal point for your oven and detects the temperature and opens the electrical circuit to turn off the element when the desired set temperature is attained. Set your electric oven to 300 degrees and hopefully, you have a window in your oven to watch. The bake element will come on and the temperature will rise until it reaches 300 degrees. It is at this point when your oven bake indicator light should go out. When this happens....look inside. The element is still bright orange and emitting heat and will continue to raise the temperature in the oven to approximately 325 - 340 degrees. With this noted, you will see the temperature beginning to drop 315, 310, 300, 295, 290, 285 perhaps even 280 or some even lower to 275 and then the indicator lamp will go on indicating the circuit has closed thus turning on the element, Finally there is a variance and no range GAS or ELECTRIC will ever maintain a even 300 degree temperature. The calibration set point is based on the 300 degrees. If your oven light goes off within 20-25 degrees of three hundred degrees, your oven is already calibrated pretty close and I would not attempt to adjust it at all.

the only way to confirm it is to disconnect the broil element and insulate the wires, then do some cooking. it will not heat up as quickly or as evenly, but should let you know for sure if it is the broil relay. on that model you can only replace the whole board so if disconnecting the broil allows it to work then you need a new board, if not I have had some units where the oven sensor had bad wire connections at the wiring harness and would only sometimes act up. When I see that I normally just cust out the harness plug and wire nut the oven probe in. (bad connection at the oven probe not at the control board). Be sure to use it long enough that there is no question before replacing board.

they are often very stiff due to crud burning on. use mole grips and there is a risk you will break bulb cover but that is not the end of the world.
make sure you use a heat proof bulb as a replacement
