You can download the drivers from the manufacture website. For downloading you have to know the pc manufacture, model no. if your pc is branded.
If you pc is not branded then you have to note down *********** board make and model no. and search it in the net.
You have to open the side pan of your desk top pc and for the lap top you have to open from the back side to check the model no of the mother board. post back if need more help

Can you please give me step by step insturctions on how to totally wipe my hardrive on my dell latitude 600? Then I will refoat it back to its orignal settings. thank You

Unless you're donating the drive, there's no need to do anything before re-installing the OS. When Windows asks where you want to install the OS to, you'll see an option for formatting the drive first.
If you are donating it and are worried about someone recovering the data (after formatting and re-installing, it's not something the average tech can do) I'd recommend booting the laptop off CD/USB drive with this image (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and running one of the Hard Disk Wiping utilities. Mind you, some of the very thorough ones (military-grade) can take DAYS.

How to delete operating system .

When deleting the operating system you have to have a restore disc or the master disc for an Operating System to be re-installed again. You will then have to insert the Operating System disc in the drive and then restart select boot from CD or DVD whichever you have on your lap top then you will have to format the drive with this disc it all should just do it for you select complete install. This will wipe files currently on the hard drive and enable you to restore your machine back to its original condition as you purchased it.
You computer should be by default to boot from CD ROM first boot. If not get to the BIOS press F2 when the system first boots it will take you to the BIOS then set in the BOOT order as first boot being CD or DVD first boot and hard disc second boot. Then restart and have the Operating System Disc in. If you do not have an operating system disc that came with your computer you can get one from Dell just order it and use this disc. Do not try to install just the basic Windows because Dell has all of their drivers installed on their restore discs and you will play heck trying to get the drivers. Unless you have a legal copy of Win 7 go ahead and go for it then. Making sure to be online when installing Win 7 so that it can seek driver files during the installation.
I hope this assisted you. Thanks for using FixYa for all your questions. John

How do I restore my Dell inspiron mini 10 computer to factory settings. I have tried ctrl F11 and it does not work. It operates on XP so the F8 isn't working for me either... PLEASE HELP!!!

To restore back to factory settings you have to format hard drive which will erase all information and then install operating system all over. to do this you need original operating system cd that came with the computer. put this in and restart the pc and once it shuts down keep on pressing F12 which will give you boot menu. you will choose cd/dvd rom and make sure to press space bacr or any button right after it when it asks so it will boot in to cd it self. once the cd loads all the files it will ask to repair or press escape to install new windows which is what you need. once in that screen you have to delete the old partition and then do format and then install windows. make sure you read all the prompts just to be sure but this is preatty much universal. Also before you do anything make sure to do back up of all of the data since you will loose all of it after format. now for the first time you choose format it will give you few options. just choose normal and not quick format. quick format is faster but normal will check hard drive for errors and bad sectors which is always good.once everything is installed you will need the drivers cd to be able to install all the drivers line network drivers and video etc.. If you dont have drivers cd and have internet access just go to google.com and click on downloads and support and download all the drivers for your model and put on cd or jump drive.Good luck with this.

How to format my compaq pressario cq40 604tx laptop with xp

hi

Boot from your XP install CD and select the option to format the C:
drive. If you don't have an install CD, use the "System Restore" CD or
DVD that came with your system. These restore your system to factory
settings. There're still other ways to format your C: drive, but
without either an install CD or restore one, you'll end up with an
unusable system after formatting the C: drive.
If you use the XP install CD, you'll need to be SURE you have all the
drivers for things like your DVD/CD drive, NIC, video, audio, modem, etc.

My daughter amilo 2727 crashed, i had to order the media set from siemens but nothing is happening when i insert the recovery disc

Caution: The entire contents of the hard disk including any partitions will be lost.
Note: The following message may appear when disks (CDs/DVDs) are inserted:
"An unidentified program is attempting to access the computer"
"Unidentified publisher"
Confirm this message with "Allow Access" if you are certain of the source
and its origin. This query is intended to protect your operating system and is
generated prior to system files being accessed. For example, it appears
during the installation process for programs and drivers.
4.2.1 Restoring the operating system
1. With the machine turned on. Insert the Product Recovery CD/DVD into the optical
drive.
2. Turn the machine off, wait a moment and then turn it back on.
3. When the prompt "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …" appears on the
screen for the first time, press any key on the keyboard.
.Caution! This message will appear after each restart during the installation
process. Please ignore this message in these cases as the
computer is only booted from CD/DVD once.
4. In the "Install Windows" menu select "Installation Language", "Time and
Currency Format
" and "Keyboard or Input Method", click on "Next" and then on
"Install now".
5. Accept the "Windows Licence Conditions" and click on "Next" to proceed with
the installation.
6. In the "Type of Installation" menu select "User-defined".
7. In the "Where would you like to install Windows" menu, select the partition on
which you would like to install your operating system.
If you would like to install Windows on a specific partition with sufficient storage
capacity, select it and then click on "Next".
If you wish to create a new partition or extend, delete or format an existing one,
click on "Drive options (extended)", select the desired option and click on "Next".
The installation process will start. The hard disk will be wiped and reformatted.
Files from the CD/DVD will copied on to the hard disk and expanded, and functions
and updates installed. This may take a few minutes. The machine will
automatically report a restart.
8. Now follow the on-screen instructions until the "Welcome Screen" appears.
9. Remove the Product Recovery CD/DVD from the optical drive.
To install the drivers, additional software and to restore the online documentation, insert
the Drivers & Utilities CD/DVD supplied into the optical drive.
.
4.2.3 Restoring additional software onto notebooks (drivers, documentation, hot
fixes)
The Drivers & Utilities CD/DVD allows your system's drivers, software and hot fixes to
be installed and restored. The installation and restore can be performed without having
to shut down Windows.
Proceed as follows:
hope this helps- here is the manual address if you need to look at it---please feel free to post more questions as you proceed..

Forgotten password

Hello:

If you want to restore your laptop to factory setting: You should insert your "recovery disk to the CD/DVD ROM. and then shutdown the laptop.

Now; boot your laptop using the recovery disk(boot the laptop from CD/DVD rom) This will no need to input the password: its either you have to restore the system without deleting the existing files or you have to partition and format the hard drive. formatting hard drive you will end up with fresh copy of system files. same as first day when you purchase the laptop.

be sure to install the driver if there's any.

However; if you tend to do by supplying the password. iguess all factory installation has no password. you have to strike the enter without supplying any password.

may this help,
