I have Toshiba laptop with built in camera, but whenever i try to open the camera i recieve an error message 'CEC_Main.exe' reinstall. Kindly help how do i go about.

A couple of things to try.
1) Go into your BIOS and ensure that the webcam isn't somehow turned off in the BIOS. 2) Go into Device Manager in Windows, find the webcam. Right click on it and remove it. Then reboot the computer and let Windows find it, and reinstall the drivers again.
3) You may also want to reinstall the Toshiba specific drivers and software which likely includes drivers for the webcam. You may have a CD that came with the laptop, otherwise you can go to

The first thing to try would be to right-click on lifecam.exe and run it as administrator. If that does not resolve the problem. Then open Device manager. Start->Run-> In the run box type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter. See if the camera has been detected under imaging devices and let me know

My initial suggestion would be to reinstall the software for your camera.You may have gotten a corrupt file from an update.

1. Open a program called"Camera Assistant." This is a Toshiba-supported computr program designed specifically for people with cameras built into their laptops.You can find this by clicking on the "Start" menu and then navigatingto the "Programs" sub-menu. 2. Press the"Picture" button in the "Camera Assistant" program windowto take a picture using your built-in camera. This will take one stillphotograph for every time you click the button. The image you are taking willappear on the right side of the main program window. 3. Press the"Video" button in the "Camera Asst" program window tobegin recording video using your built-in camera. This will record video untilyou press the "Stop" button. The video you are recording will appearon the right side of the main program window. 4. If you can't open"Camera Assistant," reinstall your drivers. Though the camera on aToshiba laptop is designed to work right out of the box, if it doesn't you mayneed to reinstall the driver that makes it work. Look for the CD labeled"Drivers and Software" that came packaged into the box with yourToshiba laptop. Pop it in your laptop's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive and install the"Digital Camera" driver contained on the disc.

to stop getting the error message, type msconfig into the run/search box.
Go to the startup tab and untick the entry for the camera.
Uninstall the software, run a cleaner like CCleaner, run the registry cleaner.
Download the latest version of the software and try again .

You may need to go to the manufacturer to download the software & drivers ,

You may also may need to scan your system for infections to see if that software is infected and unable to load & work , their is several place to have your system scaned for free or scanned and repaired for a small fee / just make sure that the company is reputable as in 

Symantic , Mcaffe , Panda Security 

also try rolling back the driver for you may have gotten a bad update for the software or driver / this is done thru the device manager 

This is what I know about this issue. I'm guessing you have a built in camera and anti virus program installed on your laptop. What you will have to do is to uninstall the driver for the camera, and disable your anti virus for a while. then you can reinstall your camera and it should work.

Have you just installed a new security app such as Kaspersky?

If so you could so allow CEC_main.exe in the firewall which should cure the problem.

hi. its purely a virus problem that prompts u from performing some actions in ur system. visit filehippo.com website. download AVG anti virus latest version scan ur computer. the problem wil get solved.

This works better and is within the Kaspersky help.

1. Open main application window
2. In the left part of the window select System Security.
3. Press the Application access rights link in the Application Filtering section.
4. In the window that will open select tab Applications.
5. Select the application in the Program column.
6. Press the Edit link in the bottom part of the tab.
8. In the window that will open select tab Rules.
9. Select a resource category for which a detailed access right configuration is required using a drop-down list in the top part of the tab.
10. Open the shortcut menu for the column containing actions to be performed with protected resources.
11. Select the required menu access rights.
12. Save changes.
