No other way than to get access to the broken pipe, cut it well and straight , then use a coupling that can be pushed into and glued into - if PVC there is no problem but to put in the length and fix with the shower thread. But If Metal then if threading is impossible then use a wrench to remove off the broken from the bend end , put in a new piece of the same length with the thread for the shower fitting.
There is no other way temporarily but to plug this if you do not have the equipment.
Good luck

What could cause the loss of hot water pressure in sink and shower but works fine everywhere else in the house

A calcium build up in the nozel heads or pipes from some not so lovely water. Did it happen gradually? There is a filter in the side of electric hot water systems that needs replacing once in a while but that would affect all the pressure.

Shower head broke off

You can get a new extension pipe to replace the broken one. If there's enough left on the old pipe to get a pair of slip joint pliers on try to get it out that way. If not then you'll have to use a pipe extractor tool to get it out. You won't have to take the shower out.

I replaced an Moen spout for my shower unit. Water flows thru the Spout and when level is pulled water flows thru the shower head. But there is water leak somewhere (reverse flow?). The ceiling below it...

if you have copper piping, you probably twisted the pipe when, you tightened the spout ,and broke pipe. If you are'nt able to get into the wall on the shower side, cut a hole on the other side of shower wall to repair it.

I have an American Standard shower that drips out the shower head. When other faucets are used in the bathroom the water pours. I replaced the cartridge put it still drips. What could be the problem?

Hi kwbaker!
Assuming the cartridge is new and the water drips at both hot and cold settings, I would check your shower head. It is not uncommon for debris to collect in the screening there and clog the spray nozzle.

To check the shower head you'll need to remove it from its piping. Use two tools--I normally use an adjustable wrench and a strap wrench--to hold the wall pipe and simultaneaously turn the shower head counter-clockwise. The cresecent wrench grabs the hex-head of the shower head, while the strap wrench holds the chromed piping without scratching it.

Be sure you don't lose the rubber washer inside the pipe-to-shower head connection!

Once the head is removed, look inside it at the pipe side. You should be able to see into the mechanicals of the shower head--very often I'll see bits of rust or scale. Oftentimes its enough to rinse the pipe side of the head under a sink; in extreme situations it can be easier to replace the entire shower head.

To replace the shower head, use two tools in the same manner in which the head was removed: crescent wrench to turn the shower head, strap wrench to hold supply piping. This time, however, turn the shower head clockwise until it tightens snug.

Hope this helps!

For some reason, my rain shower head drips like it is slightly turned on. I have never noticed this problem until I changed the thermostats and elements in my water heater. I believe the shower head is...

Remove the shower head and flush the plumbing by opening both valves fully. When you did the heater work, you dislodged some scale . Now it's in the shut off valve. It's no big deal as long as you hsaven't forced anything to stop it. Good Luck_Ned_

Water pressure to main hose has ceased, with water now pouring out of a small outlet pipe at bottom of unit next to fixing for main hose.

Sounds like your outlet at the top has clogged with grit/dirt. Turn the shower off, remover the entire shower head hose from its base (where it screws into the wall or pipe. Turn water back on. If you get a steady flow (as you should) the problem is isolated to the shower head/hose. Detach the shower head from the hose and clean the screen inside, attach hose back on first, try water again, if this flows then your blockage is in the head itself. After removing and cleaning the screen inside the shower head, reattach and run water, this should fix your problem, if not, you may need a new shower head. If the water will not flow to the outlet pipe alone, either your shower switch is broken or you have a serious plumbing problem.

Tub shower combo... newly installed but leaks from shower head when turned on

Some shower heads require a rubber washer that would fit in the opening in the shower head. That may be all you need and would be the simplest fix. Check that first.
Sounds like you need some teflon tape available at any hardware store. The teflon tape should be wrapped around the pipe threads with 2 or 3 wraps and then screw the shower head on to the pipe. If the leak is in the wall, remove the shower head pipe from the wall pipe elbow and apply 2 or 3 wraps of teflon tape to the shower head pipe threads and reinstall to the elbow in the wall. You may need a pipe wrench if the pipe is real tight. Good Luck

How to Remove Shower Head

Once you've purchased your new shower head the first step in replacing the head is to make sure your shower faucets are firmly turned off and then remove the old shower head. If you look at the existing shower head, you'll notice flat spots on what's called a pipe nipple at the base of the shower head where the head screws into the goose-neck pipe that sticks out of the wall. * Take an adjustable wrench and tighten the wrench onto the base of the shower head flat spots. * Turning counter-clockwise, loosen and remove the old shower head. * Clean the threads on the goose-neck of any debris such as old pipe compound or Teflon tape.
