SOURCE: Blinking light on the DSL modem.

Unfortunately it sounds like the modem may need to be replaced. I had the same issue. Even after doing a complete shutdown, resetting all the cables, restarting the modem and then the computer, it still did not work. After you get the modem replaced, I would suggest you get a spare, possibably from e-bay, so if this happens again, you will not be without DSL Service.

SOURCE: the cable light on my modem keeps blinking for long periods of time and won't let me axcess the internet

This would indicate a problem with the cable connection, modem,or your ISP

Try replace the cable that comes from the RF connector to the wall outlet (use a good quality one)

Also if you have ANY form of splitter / divider in that line that was not supplied by your ISP for splitting a modem signal then remove it.

Check the output of the power supply for the modem if the psu is faulty then replace with a universal adaptor that can supply both the correct voltage and current (they are usually listed on the original psu eg. 9V 500mA)

DO NOT use any psu that cannot meet those two numbers a 300mA supply will not be suitable but one that is slightly higher eg. 650mA will.

If you still have problems then contact your ISP for a replacement.

SOURCE: My internet keeps disconnecting, never

Hi,

There could be a couple of causes for this issue. Your internet could be degraded when it gets to your house causing disconnects. You will have to contact your Internet Service Provider in order to have them resolve this issue. Normally, they will replace splitters and may even replace lines outside of your house. You could also be having problems with the modem directly. The may replace this. You could also try to upgrade the software on it. Click here for the update page for Arris.

Typically, I recommend you unplug the router, plug the computer directly in the modem and see if you still have the problem. If you still have the problem then you know it is just the modem. If the problem resolves itself then you know the most likely culprit is the router.

I would also recommend that you update your router firmware as well. Do a google search for the brand name of the router and go to the companies website, look in the support/downloads section for updated software.
--If possible, try a different Ethernet port on your router. You may have a bad port.
--Take out and reinsert all Ethernet cables on your network. Loose cables can cause disconnects.
--If possible, replace the Ethernet cables. Bad cables can cause this.

Lastly, you could be having an issue with the Network card(NIC) on your computer. Network cards are either built into the modem or external(a card you insert into the motherboard). Using the process of elimination and the steps above, you can hopefully narrow down the problem to one specific component of your network.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,

SETTING UP WIFI on the ds

Here are the recommended steps to connect to a wireless base router 1. Check and remove power from both your router and the DSL ROUTER/CABLE ROUTER MODEM 2. Wait one complete minute until applying power to modem then wait one minute before applying power to wireless router. 3. Ensure you have green lights across both devices, specifically, the recieved and sent lights. These same lights will tend to blink rapidly when there is active data, at times this will still blink, and a DNS error will prevent you from connecting to the internet. If this is the case, call your ISP Internet service provider 4. Check your authentication Security key on your router first, then check all your wireless devices to ensure they are on the same network name, key, and channel with the same type of encryption as the router 5. Start one device at a time and check for connectivity, if your still experiencing a problem, check the settings on all your wireless adapters, device drivers, internet browser settings, firewalls and proceed. 6. still have problems, connect a rj45 cable from the router directly to your computer to at least see if your wireless settings are bad or if the router may be bad. 7. My Belink (F5D8236-4) Router stopped working. The modem light blinks orange. When connecting the modem directly to the PC the internet works. How do I resolve tis issue?

Turn everything off, modem, router and computer.
It shows your router is not configured properly
Turn on the modem first and wait for a solid data/connect light.

Turn on the router, give it two minutes.

Still if problem presists you need to reset the router ..

How to reset::
Push and release the “Reset” button.
The lights on the Router will momentarily flash.
The “Power/Ready” light will begin to blink. When the “Power/Ready” light becomes solid again, the reset is complete

My modem is not connecting right.

Theres a small reset button at the back of the modem. You will need a pencil or a pen to press it. Press that button, hold it for at least 10 seconds and see if it works.
If it doesnt, unplug the modem for around a minute, plug it in and try again.
If the problem still persists, something should be wrong from the internet provider. Contact your ISP. Hope that helped.

I have a Linksys modem with a netgear wireless router. The other night my internet just stopped working and now it is though the modem is not transmitting a signal. I have connected 2 different computers...

the ds light is for downstream which is your digital signal simply put...... if the light is not going solid to denote being :"online" there maybe signal related issues. rain will mess up the cable signals as the service is exposed to elements etc.....here is a trick i do with a modem that doesnt want to lock on to good signal.....reboot the damn thing...........give it a minute or two.. if the online light doesnt sync up solid....unscrew the cable connector on the back of the modem while it is powered up and wait 15 seconds////then screw it back on (needs to be hand tight, its like a water hose, if its loose you get signal loss) and give it 10 minutes......if it still doesnt lock up and go solid indicating online then call your cable company, you should not get charged for their service not working correctly..........it then would be something only a tech could fix. but if it does lock up and go solid ....hook up your router , power it up and give it a minute to sense the modem, restart the computer and you should be good to go...

Constantly blinking Activity light

Well, you are very correct with the activity light blinking and the increased blinking except the fact that modem will encounter a problem in future...
The 5 different lights on your modem namely Power, Ethernet, DSL, Internet and Activity have their own indications and explanations.
1. The Activity Light indicates the amount of activity that is takin place on the computer on the Internet though the activity might blink even when you are not browsing. This can be explained by stating that the computer constantly keep sending signals  about it being connected to the internet and any other acknowledgements..

So, you've got nothing worry about unless the Power or the Ethernet or the DSL or the Internet light Blinks....
Cause they are the resultants of a fried modem(check for the adapter), faulty LAN connections, interrupted Dsl line and the account verification failure indications respectively.....

Heres how i install my modems
1.Turn off all equipment
2. Take an ethernet cable going from the modem, and plug it into the ethernet slot on the computer.
3. plug in the modems power and give it 1 min to power up.
4. Power up your computer and see if it gets connection.

Troubleshooting.
1.Go to the control pannel and look at internet connections.
2. Look for your connection (LAN), and see if is connected.
3. If it isnt connected than it is a problem on your ISP's side.

For other support
