Desktop icons disappear after closing an application or similar such as a folder .The solution is NOT to reboot but use the buttons Ctr---.Alt---Del .In the NEW TASK window type EXPLORER.EXE then click ENTER and all your icons will magicly reappear and all your frustrations will be over . A good registry scanner can clean up a lot of problems with your computer. Here's a link to a good free one:

I've used this one and it sped up my computer by quite a bit. Hopefully this helps.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Using Windows 7.(Lost Desktop Icon).

Click the mouse "down" onto the "nearby" icon, and then "drag" that icon to move it somewhere a few inches away. The "missing" icon may now become visible.

Or, if you have used "auto-arrange desktop icons", look everywhere on your desktop for the "new" location of the icon.

Sounds like the explorer.exe process might be restarting. Open Task manager and keep refreshing the processes to see if explorer.exe disappears/re-appears.

Sounds like Spyware or Adware causing your issues. Try scanning it using http://superantispyware.com/ or AGV Free.
