Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Hello Dear, I have a Robinair 34788 model. The problem that I have is can't refill from source tank. It keeps saying that "Suorce Tank Is Empty" eventhough I'd tried more than one brand new tanks from the box. I'd replaced the fill hose solenoid because when I test that solenoid it was really weak but no luck. Also, I did check the fill hose and it seems to be OK. What should I do next, please. Any helps, please. Also, here is what I did when trying to charge the freeon into vehicle. When system ******/slow or fail to charge in, I did turn on the vehicle and AC because I when I do that, freeon get charged in faster. Doesn't mess up my machine? Thank you very much. Bao

SOURCE: Robinair 34788, Will not fill (IVS) tank from

Please check ''TANK FILL'' hose quick connector & ''LIQUID'' hose on ISV Tank & make sure both valves is opening properly.it sound like(one of those) close! If valves is Ok then check tank fill solenoid, it may need to rebuild or replace. If those are OK, replace ''TANK FILL'' Hose.
I hope this will help you to solve the problem, if so please vote for it. Gool luck!

SOURCE: Dear Sir, We have a Robinair

cannot say i have come across this before as R134 is R134 ,have you tried starting the car turning the AC on and then allowing the car to draw the correct weight of gas into the car ,i do this a lot when i in a rush rather than waiting for the machine to do a cycle that can take up to an hour .I have the euromaster machine made in itlay ,and the first time i used the machine it jammed up as none of these machines have filter in the inlet line as such and what happened was it drew a load of brown rusty sort of clagg into the machine and this is what i think has happened to yours and its blocked up the solonoid valves in the base of the machine ,They wanted over a 1000 euros to repair as although it was under warrenty they wouldnt accept responsibility ,anyway what i done was to use brake and cleaner spray and took a solonoid valve out and then filled the base with this solvent .After a day or so i took all the plugs off and solonoids out and blew it through ,used machine after and it worked but i had to keep cleaning it as the waste oil collector kept getitng clogged and the gas came out exploding the bottle ,anyway after a quite a few cleans it all came out and now if i do a complete recovery i use a metal fuel filter in the blue low pressure line to recover then when i refill system i remove it and just connect direct to machine ,The proper filter is very expensive but the fuel filter isnt and its the one for a rover diesel 220 .Now i vary rarely do a full recovery i just top up with 500grms of gas regardless by connecting blue line and starting engine with ac on and let it draw 500grms in and that seems to work on everything ,with a little dye in the line before i refill the gas bottle on my machine ,and a nice supply of leak stopper additive which costs me 18euros a time ,made in italy good stuff and a bit of gas i can charge 50 euros a time plus the stopper for 30 euros not a fortune i know but iam happy .I have just paid 230 euros for a bottle of R134 of 15kgs ,Anyway check out under the blanking caps and the solonoids as iam pretty sure this is your problem --its sucked in a load of clagg

Why can u not fill my isv it will try but shuts off instantly?

If it's a replaceable tank it likely has a check valve to prevent backfilling. If the tank is designed to be refilled you may need a different hose for filling it, check the manual.

Won't refill from source tank. Trys to, solenoid buzzes, then quits trying.

If it is a 34700-2k or 34700z it could be the check valve that is between the solenoid and the block if it is a 34788 the check valve is brass cap on the side closest to the solenoid. you should be able to blow through the check valves one way they only take 3 psi to open if it will not open it will need replaced

I'm Archie i've a Robinair 34988 just five days old and having problem with it. It keeps displaying HIGH PRESSURE (HIGH PRESSURE RESET). whether you try to vacuum, recharge, refill or anything...

This is a common problem of Model: 34788, 34788-I, 34988, AC34788, GE48800 etc.
You need to replace air purge solenoid (Air purge solenoid located on top of the ISV tank, if you open front panel cover then you can see it on top of the tank).
After doing above stapes and your problem still exist then you have to replace PCB relay board. Just claim for warranty (Air purge solenoid and PCB relay board) from where you bought the machine.
Hope this will help to solve your problem, if so please vote for it for farther help! Good luck
