Assuming this is vista who knows what the problem is I would notify hp as this unit is certainly in warrenty and it may have issues that need resolving at a higher level liek a new motherboard etc. I think a restore from your disks woul dbe a good place to start then see if it happens after the auto updates are installed.
hope this helps

HP PAVILLION g Series laptop- operating problems, slow to turn on. Lost Internet Exployer & have no acess to my hotmail accounts

Sorry to here about your issue. It sounds to me that you might have some kind of Malware on this PC. Internet explorer comes with the Operating system and is on your computer.
Try this:
in Windows XP
Start>My Computer>C:>Program Files>Internet Explorer
Once you're in the Internet Explorer window you will see the "E" for internet Explorer you can drag and drop it to your desktop or Right click and send to your desktop.
If there is Malware on the PC you will have to remove that to resolve your issues. so try this

Boot your PC into safe mode with Networking:
To start the computer in safe mode with Networking 1.
You should print these instructions before continuing. They will not be available after you shut your computer down in step 2.
2.
Click Start and then click Shut Down.
3.
In the drop-down list of the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
4.
As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8.
On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press F8 when the boot menu appears.
5.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode with networking option, and then press ENTER.
6.
If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

Once your in safe mode with networking click on links below:

HP laptop - explorer closes automatically when trying to install itunes

First of all use Firefox instead of internet explorer, its far more better than IE. Secondly when you want to install itunes, put your antivirus and spyware on hold (i.e. turn them off).
It it dosent work try reinstalling your OS without formatting your hard disk, this will repair your system if accidently you have deleted some installation file. And keep your system updated.

Closing Multiple Windows

Are you using internet explorer?

Internet explorer is unable to handle many windows open at the same time.

My suggestion is to use Mozilla Firefox which can be downloaded for free which is safer and has much fewer errors than IE. Please update me on the situation and what internet browser you are using and I will work with you until the problem is fixed.
