I have the same problem...so if we are inadvertantly having them downloades as bitmaps then how do we change that from occuring?

  • oddwolf Jan 02, 2009

Mine's actually importing it as jpeg (yes taking the first frame of the video as an image). I've used this software on other cameras with videos and never had an issue. It used to create a separate still photo, but still downloaded the .avi file.

This makes no sense. Are you sure you are not inadvertently asking your download software to import it as BMP.

Btw, .BMP is a still photo (picture) format, not a video (movie) format.

I ERASED A VIDEO ON MY JVC HD 1080P REC VIDEO CAMERA. MODEL NO: GC-FM1BU. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RECOVER IT?

If the original file was saved on an SD card then you can bring that SD card into a computer specialist and they can get into the card and recover deleted files. If you do go into a specialist, bring your video camera and USB cable as well in case it is not on the card because they may be able to get it off the camera too.

Trying to upload pictures to my Corel software from the SD card in my camera & for a lot of the photos, it says there is no bitmap and won't upload. Help!

ensure you have your corel software looking for .jpg files instead of .bmp files, as canon saves its pictures in either .jpg or .raw format or both.

Hello, My mom cannot get her pictures from her computer back onto her memory stick. She sees the pictures as if they are going to the memory stick, but when she hits view on her camera, no...

The pictures have to be in the correct format.
On the computer, use the Tools - View menu to change the options to 'do not hide file extensions'
Then compare the file extension of a picture that does display on the camera with a picture that does not display on the camera.
Let us know what the extensions are.

e.g. camera extension pictures may have .raw and your pictures which don't work may be .bmp ???

Can't get videos off the camera

Hello,

here is a easier way to view/transfer your videos/pictures.....

if your running Windows Xp or Vista great.

select your menu button on the back of the camera , then Shooting menu, then Set up, scroll down to Interface, then USB, select mass storage. press menu to exit.

turn your camera on after you connect the USB cable to your computer and camera.

a new hardware wizard should be active, Xp & vista provides the drivers and a one time deal. your camera turns into a removable hard drive or like a jump drive.

you can drag & drop the video files easily into a folder .....

make sure you have the latest Quick Time Player to view the videos.

and here is the manual on the Coolpix L10

you can download the free adobe acrobat reader for free also.

DOWNLOAD PROBLEM

Try opening the SD card through My Computer as a mass storage device (right click on it and click open or explore) this way you should be able to find a file with the extension .mov . You'll need to use quicktime or something that can handle quicktime files. You can also try a program called Xilisoft PSP Video Converter to convert the file to something that can be used with your current media player.

having looked at the "image" mys suggestion is try a different memory card. If that's ok, then you know where the problem lies. I am looking at total file corruption on your BMP.

If a different card does not resolve the issue, then it's a workshop job.
